Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
After some changes, this was AMAZING! I added boulion cubes to the water when boiling the chicken and vegetables and added potatoes. I also added 1/4 cup more of both the chicken broth and the milk for the sauce and added 1/2 tsp of garlic pepper, garlic poweder and poultry seasoning. I suggest brushing the bottom with egg white and baking for 5-7 minutes before adding filling. I baked at 400 degrees for 45 minutes and covered the edges with foil for the first 30 minutes. Loved this recipe! I made it again the next day, doubled it, and made three pies to freeze.

Golden Potato Soup

Loved this recipe. My 11 and 9 year old sons made this for a cold sunday dinner. Super easy. They used REAL bacon bits that we keep in the freezer and we cooked the potatoes seperately. Wonderful!

Sweet Potato Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2009
I also only used 3 large sweet potatos but kept the spices and cream cheese the same. I also added corn and black beans. I used the flour tortillas because that is all I had on hand and just warmed them in the microwave before filling. These are so good! My sixth grader had friends over and they all loved it!

Pork Chops in Beer

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I followed the advice of some other reviewers and tweeked the recipe a bit. I used 1 cup ketchup, 1 Tbspn BBQ sauce, 1 Tsp Worchestershire sauce, 3/4 bottle of beer, 1/4 tsp of dry mustard, 2 cloves of garlic (crushed), and a dash of cayenne pepper. I also seared the pork chops with some steak seasoning and then through everything in the crock pot with 1/2 a large onion. Put on low all day then served over brown rice and peas. Super yummy and kids loved it!

So easy and so good! I didn't use nuts because the kids don't like them, but I followed the rest of the recipe exactly. We actually had this with sunday breakfast, nice treat.

Company Chicken Pasta Salad with Grapes

Great recipe! Had to tweak the amounts though. I used twice the amount of sauce and let it sit overnight. I don't think that the 4 hours listed in the recipe would have been enough. Kids loved it too!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2008
I have made this five times and it is wonderful. I altered it a little per others reviews. I used one can of tomato soup, one can of kidney beans, one tablespoon of chili powder, added a can of tomatoes with chilies, and half a can of water. If you like your chili really spicy keep the chili powder at two tbspns, but I had to tone it down for the kids. Keep it on low all day and you will love this easy and yummy chili!

I made with the frozen meatballs. I mixed together the sauce in the crockpot, threw in the meatballs, and set on low all day. They were fantastic! We had baked potatoes and green beans with it and it was wonderful.

I cannot even describe how good these are. Make sure you mix by hand. No stand mixers or they will come out flat. Also make sure you cook at 390 and for 8 minutes. No more, no less.

Taco Pie

Great starter of a recipe. I added layers of diced tomatoes with peppers, black beans, and corn. I did not put the chips on top and topped with sour cream after cooking. I also put fresh avocado on top with lettuce. WAS GREAT! Had a nice kick from the peppers too. Took less than 20 minutes.

Basic Crepes

Best recipe ever! I followed the advice of one of the other reviewers and mixed the "wet" ingredients first then added the flour. Not lumpy at all. Put about a teaspoon of sugar in the batter to give it a little sweetness. We just put raspberry preserves on and rolled them up. Kids ate three each!
