Mischief, waiting for dinner
About this Cook
I am a wife, the mother of three kids and two cats. I work freelance from home, and am a part time student. I do almost all the cooking at our house - a complicated process, because I am vegetarian, my son is fructose intollerant, and my husband and daughters aren't either of those things. My challenge is to not make three different dinners every night.
My favorite things to cook
Soups and stews in the winter. Salads and food for the grill in the summer. Desserts, breads, pretty well anything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday meals, of course. Exam breakfasts for the kids. this is when you have a breakfast themed to the exam you are writing that day - ham omlette (Hamlet) and fruit shake with a speared fruit kabob (Shakespeare) for English exams, etc.
My cooking triumphs
Any dinner that makes those I love happy. We have a family rating system similar to the All Recipes one. Nothing gets made again unless it gets at least 4 stars.
My cooking tragedies
It's all a learning experience. A lime chiffon pie that stayed completely liquid in the centre, a 12 layer torte that tipped in the fridge so the whole bottom of the fridge was covered in torte. Oh well.

Slow Cooker Chili II
This was very easy to make, despite the long ingredients list. I like that it has two kinds of beans. My family enjoyed this very much, and since it makes a large amount, I froze some. Thanks!

Tartar Sauce I
A good, basic tartar sauce that's easy to throw together. Nice additions might be dill and capers. Thanks!

Crispy Oven-Fried Fish Fillets
This fish was a big hit at our house! I used halibut fillets, which were quite thick, so I baked them for a few extra minutes. My husband, who is leery of fish, had two helpings! I used garlic and butter flavoured croutons. Will definitely make these again. Thanks!
