Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
We never have a reason to keep buttermilk in our house, so we create our own! In a 1 cup measuring cup, add 1tb lemon juice and fill the remainder of the cup with regular milk. Let it stand for about 5 minutes and VOILA! Buttermilk! This is very helpful since we are ADDICTED to this cornbread! The best we've ever had--it always comes out light and fluffy! Thank you for submitting this recipe!

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
Well, the first time we made this, we were out of honey, so we substituted brown sugar. We also did not have anchovy paste..despite these changes, this was WONDERFUL sauce! We used a can of plum tomatoes, which added to the sweetness of the sauce. The pepper gave it a nice burst of heat, but didn't overpower it. We made enough to have extra and used it as a dipping sauce for garlic bread when we had company. It was a huge hit! Thanks so much for the recipe!

This dish is a huge hit at my house! It is probably my husband's favorite meal. It's easy to make (just double the sauce recipe) and will not last long, I promise! Thank you for a great recipe!!!

Creole Cornbread Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
Excellent! This recipe makes a HUGE amount! I made it much easier by using a box mix for my cornbread (2 boxes for this stuffing). I also added Italian sausage for flavor and because my husband thinks everything is better with sausage! I served this at Thanksgiving this year and was very impressed. It also reheats well. This will be my staple for the years to come. Thank you!

Barley Bake

My husband and I LOVE this recipe!! It's a welcome change from the usual rice pilaf or potato dish. The Barley Bake is healthy, can easily be varied with different veggies if you so choose, and is always a winner! Thanks for a great recipe...

Onion Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2007
A very flavorful but simple upgrade from plain rice. We use jasmine rice and make the chicken broth from boullion cubes. We really like onion flavoring, so we may go heavier than the recipe calls for, plus we add fresh ground pepper. We'll be hard-pressed to eat 'plain old rice' again!
