Our little one!
Me and my Sweetie!
About this Cook
I am a Stay at Home Mom, but I became a Certified Professional Caterer four years ago. I love having people over for dinner and hosting parties, and use them as an excuse to test out new recipes. I have a husband who is an excellent taste tester and critic! And now that my daughter is eating "regular" food, it's fun to see what she enjoys and what has to be cahnged to suit her tastes.
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian, and I am venturing more into pan searing and braising. I am a big Christmas cookie maker, especially my mom's pizelle cookies- people pay me to make them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We always make Roasted Leg of Lamb with Roasted New Potatoes for Christmas, with a big antipasto platter and italian bread. We also are big fans of grilling ANYTHING, all year around. Living in the South allows us to grill even in winter, and there is nothing better than marinated pork chops on the grill!
My cooking triumphs
My lastest triumph is Beer Can Chicken- I have mastered six or seven different kinds of flavors, and our friends now ask for them specifically! Also, making several hundred cookies for the holidays that I sold to friends and businesses around town.
My cooking tragedies
I have attempted to make homemade popovers on several occassions. I have followed every recipe to the last letter, had my oven temperature checked and even bought the fancy pans. They were always flat, never "popped over" and mushy. I admit defeat, I am simply not a pastry baker!!

Mushroom Chicken Piccata
I didn't bread the chicken, but followed the recipe otherwise- it was very tasty, and the mushrooms were a nice add on. Would definitely make again!

Gnocchi I
This is a good, standard recipe for gnocchi. I found it to be very easy, the taste and texture were good- the key is to not overmix the dough, and I used 1.5 cups of flour in the dough, and the remaining 1/2 cup on the board to work into the gnocchi while I was rolling it. Remember- gnocchi is a pasta, so it doesn't taste like anything until you toss it in sauce!
