Broccoli and Sausage Cavatelli

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2009
Did not use the olive oil because we were out but I did add about 3/4 c. of sour cream and my 4 year old ate this right up. A very quick meal that we all enjoyed.

Hawaiian Sweet Bread

I thought this was good. It was very light but not quite sweet enough. Due to other reviews I added all vanilla and omitted the lemon. It did go well with the ham I made and we will make it again.

Royal Icing III

This is a great icing. We ended up with too much though because I went with the reviews that it doesn't make much. I whipped mine for quite awhile because I was distracted and got more than 4 cups. Our gingerbread house turned out perfect though. I didn't even have to wait for the walls and roof to dry before we were able to decorate it.

Cut-Out Cookies by EAGLE BRAND®

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
These are the best cut out cookie ever. I had lost by Eagle Brand cookbook and happily found the recipe here. I love that these cookies are so soft, last awhile if they aren't eaten up before I barely get them decorated and the sweetness, or lack of, perfectly balance all that sugary frosting.

Best Cream Of Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
I wish I'd have read the review for the tip about not using the blender. It was kind of a wierd texture. I added a bit more flavor because as is it was bland but once I used some garlic salt, and a couple cups of cheese my family ate it. Next time I will just cut my broccoli up really fine before I start and not use the blender and it will be even better.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

I made a ground pecan crust instead but this cheesecake is so good. It was easy and turned out perfect, not a single crack. So creamy with just the right amount of pumkin and spice.

Spinach Salad Supreme

Really good. I doubled the recipe and it was just a bit too much vinegar so next time I won't add quite as much. Otherwise I will make this many more times.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

This was a nice recipe. My 14 year old was able to make it himself for his school party. We did use canned frosting but it was just fine and the kids didn't care.

This is delicious. My kids loved it so much my son liked the spatula and scraped as much as he could out of the blender. This will become a regular at our house.

My kids loved this. We ate the whole pan at dinner which is no minor feat. Even my corn hating hubby said he would eat it again.

Sopa de Lentejas (Andalucian Lentil Soup)

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
With the addition of about a tsp. each of salt, cumin, and red pepper flakes, it was flavorful enough to not be bland but still nothing spectacular on it's own. 2 out of 5 family members would eat it. My husband said never make it again.

Nice and soft, good flavor. Nothing special but it turned out perfect with no changes to the recipe so nothing to complain about either.

Grampa Dave's Texas Chainsaw Bar-B-Que Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
I'm not sure what I did different but this was far too acid for us. Maybe it was my orange juice. I'll try it again but this time I added a lot more sugar to kill the acid and it tastes okay. After all the great reviews I was expecting more.

I had to bake these longer than 7 minutes and I should have added more flour but I do like that they make a small batch.

Luscious Spinach Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
So creamy it's a sin! I did make a few substitutions since I couldn't get to the store and had a few things to use up in the fridge but it turned out so much better than any other spinach artichoke dip I've ever made. I used 1/4c ricotta instead of cream cheese, 1/4c of parmesan and 1/4c of shredded mozzerella instead of the romano and I added a whole teaspoon of minced garlic. So yummy I'll be making this again soon.

Maria's Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
This was so good even my husband who hates spinach ate it. We did cut the filling in half and still had enough for 10 boneless tenders pounded and then sprinkled with some seasoning before we rolled them up. I browned them in my cast iron skillet and then popped them in the oven for 45 minutes. Perfect. I did give it 4 stars since I did have to use some reviews to make it so good.

Creole Chicken I

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2009
I really thought that this would be spicier. For us it was actually a bit bland even though I used a 3 pepper rub on the chicken, pan fried it to get the skin crispy and then put it in the crock pot. We liked it and I may try it again but next time I will add rotel tomatoes and some more spice. The chicken was moist but I thought our ham ended up too chewy and so may add it at the end with the sausage next time. All in all a good place to start but not a finished recipe for our taste.
