About this Cook
Mostly stay-at-home mom who is never home! Kids' sports ... some charity work ... volunteer at schools and for teams ... in the process of opening coffeeshop in nearby city. Never a dll (or quiet!) moment!
My favorite things to cook
Love to play in the kitchen - guess I never grew up? Experimentation with various ethnic foods is a hobby ... perhaps a talent as well. Don't enjoy baking as much as I used to - main courses much more fun!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Though I think that I am the only Italian girl who doesn't do lasagna, I love doing the traditional Italian fish Christmas eve. I also enjoy trying to recreate the things that I remember from earlier generations, and have spent a lot of time on letters and phone calls and at the computer doing family cookbooks to preserve the recipes.
My cooking triumphs
I have learned to do a killer duck dinner ... triumphs usually involve something that is unusual for the usual family dinner fare.
My cooking tragedies
Spent HOURS perfecting a Chinese New Year's dinner party for family and neighbors ... I thought everything came out great, but the rest acted like I had poisoned them. They expected something more like Chinese takeout! (Grrrr!)

Antipasto Squares
Both my mom and I make this and it never fails - huge hit! They are a great brunch item, as well as a perfect item that displays well on a platter to bring to a party. This recipe works with a number of fillings as well - a good imagination takes what is nearly perfect without your help to exactly what you want it to be!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips
I made a lot of this to have it to bring to a party and still have some at home ... never enough! This was a huge hit at the party and my kids loved it at home as well. One warning, though ... make like double or triple the chips - they are well loved even without the salsa!

Cucumber-Watermelon Salad
The only drawback to this recipe is that there are a lot of people who will look at it funny and not necessarily give it a chance. Those of us who like something a little different absolutely loved it!
