Just Me
About this Cook
Im divorced and currently living with a wonderful partner (an even better cook than I am) who we recently discovered is Diabetic, so cooking presents a few more challenges these days. I am also a beadweaver - check http://home.comcast.net/~b3llad0na/ if you want to find out what that is. I also love reading, dancing, rollerblading, and small animals, particularly African Pygmy Hedgehogs, which I used to raise with my ex-husband.
My favorite things to cook
For regular meals, I do have to admit I like it fairly plain. I can't eat certain things (like green peppers or cucumbers) and seldom, if ever, use salt in cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
laugh - I was raised by my grandmother, who was probably one of the WORST cooks on the planet. I had to more or less teach myself how to cook, so I can't say there are really any 'family traditions' with regards to my cooking. I'm just grateful that my first husband had a cast-iron stomach and never had an issue eating 'mistakes'.
My cooking triumphs
I do have a few 'specialties', mostly foreign dishes. I make the best chicken paprikash you'll taste this side of Budapest, a pretty darned good Tiramisu, a decent French onion soup and Russian Borscht that my boss' russian girlfriend raves about.
My cooking tragedies
That would have to be rice. I make it 'from scratch' and unfortunately it's far too easy to walk away from it and forget it's simmering - I've probably ruined three good saucepans that way.
