I love to bake! My biggest downfall in the kitchen is that I never get out of it. My husband doesn't like to go out for dinner. He says that he gets better food at home. We recently went on vacation and stayed at a 5 star resort. The restaurants weren't that spectacular, so I threw together what we had left over from the week of groceries in the mini fridge and our whole party said that it tasted more authentic than the places we had been eating at. That has always been my goal, to get it right.
My favorite things to cook
I love to add new things to my garden every year and make up spaghetti and pizza sauces. I love spice so there are always different peppers to make salsas and habenero sauces with. My children prefer the comfort foods, but I like to experiment and have them try new things.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy making all things from scratch, and try to cook with all organic foods. I don't skimp on butters and heavy cream and lowfat or nonfat items, I want my food to be in full flavor to be able to enjoy the whole experience. I believe being old school in cooking traditions is much healthier. When we travel we like to take in one favorite item that we tasted and try to remake it when we get back home. It has made going to new restaurants in foreign places fun.
My cooking triumphs
I like to experiment, and so my family are my guinea pigs. I have to say that they are very brave and will take at least one bite of all of my new dishes. There haven't been very many times that they push the plate away.
My cooking tragedies
I always seem to run out of gas on the grill in the middle of grilling for a huge crowd.
