About this Cook
I'm married with two kids. All of them are picky and like something different so this is a challenge. I, on the other hand, love any kind of food and love trying new things. I never really cooked much until after I got married. Since I have been using this site I have been more adventurous and trying lots of new recipes, it really has made cooking a lot of fun for me!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cookies, and eating them! But I have to say that I have really learned to enjoy cooking dinner for my family.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Whenever my family gets together my Mom and Grandma are always cooking up something good. I used to just sit and watch them cook, but now I like to join in and share some of the good recipes that I've found.
My cooking triumphs
I made some cinnamon rolls and they were not so good, I had never made any yeast bread before. So I was determined to make some really good cinnamon rolls, a couple pans later they were perfect! Now I'm not afraid to make anything that requires yeast!
My cooking tragedies
I've had quite a few, but one really stands out. When I was about 10 or 11 my Mom was away for the evening and I had to cook dinner for my Dad. I was going to fry pork chops and potatoes which should have been pretty easy. The pork chops browned nicely, but the potatoes were burning on the outside and raw on the inside. I did the best that I could and my Dad ate it without complaint. When my Mom came home I told her what happened and the bottle of 'oil' that I used was still sitting out, she discovered that I fried potatoes in corn syrup instead of corn oil!

15-Minute Dinner Nachos Supreme
This is not a gourmet dinner but I think it does deserve 5 stars because it's cheap, super easy and it tastes very good. The whole family ate it until there was nothing left.

Mini Meatloaves
My usual meatloaf recipe is delicious but very time consuming. This looked quick and easy so I thought I'd try it out. I used crushed saltines instead of oatmeal, otherwise I followed the recipe. My 8 year old helped, she basicly made this herself, so that tells you how easy it is. I thought they tasted pretty good. When we make them again I'll substitue the mustard with a little vinegar. I didn't really like the yellow mustard taste in the glaze and my other meatloaf recipe uses vinegar in the glaze and it's really good.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread
Guess I should have read the reviews first. I made this exactly as written and didn't like it much. A whole pack of oatmeal on top is way too much. The top was powdery, salty and the apple bits got way too brown. I may try this again following some of the other review suggestions. This could be a really great recipe if the topping was fixed.
