Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
OK yesterday I made brussel sprouts roasted with nothing on them to go the healthy route...BIG MISTAKE. Today I made this and it completely changed my mind to not hate brussel sprouts for life :-). I used red wine for vinegar and added a few splashes of balsamic when I added in the sprouts. The onions were so delicious and made the sprouts enjoyable. It got only 4 stars because it will never be in me to rate a brussel sprout recipe 5. But this is the recipe to go with in my future sprout making. Will try it with brocolli and asparagus as well! That might get the five star.

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

This recipe is awesome and an easy way to make cauliflower. I used fresh parmesan cheese(the best taste) and added extra at that. They were cooked perfect and tasted fabulous. Will make again and again this way.

Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
YUMMY! I skipped the oven method and went for the super easy microwave method to cook them. Then I cut and scooped out the middle with no ripped skin..they were perfect. I cut back a tad on the cream cheese and used butter instead of margarine. I filled skins and topped with the walnuts. Cooked 20 minutes in the oven and PERFECTO!!

Easy Cheesy Chicken I

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2007
This was easy and cheesy! HEHE! I did add one can cream of chicken soup, and two cans of cream of cheddar soup to make sure it was a great cheesy flavor. I boiled up some spiral pastas and tossed them in just before serving and the kids thought it was a great macaroni and cheese. Good easy dish. I cooked mine for 6 hours and that was perfect.

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2007
Great recipe. I did modify slightly..I added a clove or two of garlic, used one can of cream of mushroom soup and one can of golden mushroom soup. I used evaporated milk instead of regular and added in some broth for some extra flavor. I didn't have an onion(go figure) so I remembered a reviewer who added in a packet of onion soup mix..so that's what I did. I needed this to be a meal so I did add in baby red potatoes cut in half..and after 9 hours everything was PERFECT texture and taste. Great share!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
Great frosting. I had no problems..I added in 1/3 cup confectionery sugar to my heavy cream(I only had 1 1/4 cup)and whipped it for a good 5 minutes until it was thick(I added in the sugar thinking the recipe said to add in whipped cream-oops-came out so good though!). I didn't soften my cream cheese that much..thinking maybe that is why other people were getting runny frosting. I must say it came out perfect and it spread on my "strawberry Cake I" cake from this site beautifully. THANKS.

Strawberry Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
This cake was very very delicious. I made with 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries diced up fine instead of the frozen and I took in other sugg and used a french vanilla cake mix. I doubled the recipe as well and only used one box of the gelatin and it was perfect. I made 3- 9 inch round cakes and my kids made a bunch of heart cupcakes for themselves. I used vanilla instant vanilla pudding for the filling and topped with "whipped cream cream cheese frosting" from this site. Out of this world cake! Everyone ate it up.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I used 7 to 8 boneless chicken breasts, 3 cans of cream of chicken soup, approx 1.5 cups of water but will use chicken broth next time, 3 springs of fresh rosemary, dash of thyme, dash of sea salt, 1 bag of frozen peas, 5 potatoes cut up, 7.5 oz of buttermilk biscuit dough, next time will add carrots. This recipe is delish and will definitely make again and again. Thanx

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2007
Holy cow was this a FABULOUS side dish. I used tri-color orzo and I agree with others that it is essential to use fresh parmesan cheese to get the best flavor. Ofcourse me being the garlic lover..I added in some diced up garlic cloves while browning the orzo. Will make again and again and again! Don't pass this one up.

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
***five stars all around. Great cake and the icing is fabulous. I make alot of different types of chocolate cakes and icings and this is top. Rich and decadent. The only subs were for the sour cream portions in the cake and icing..i do half sour cream and half heavy cream. Richer taste..just what I like. My cake pans actually overflowed in the oven so don't fill your pans up too high. The cake rises quite a bit. Wil make again and again. Chocolate cake tastes better with age so let it sit for a day for a true flavor. THANKS!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
Holy Cow are these delicious. I used red wine for my vinegar and instead of chili sauce(didn't have) I used my favorite BBQ sauce. I cooked mine for 8 hours and I carefully finished them off on the grill for a few minutes to give them some nice grill marks. YUMMY!! Finally I found a recipe that gives me ribs that fall off the bone with goodness.

Adam's Dirt Cookies

Great cookies with a nice twist. I did use 1 full cup of the brown sugar and I cut my cookies into chunks and added them in that way(more like 2 cups). I also made another batch adding in some mini choco chips and they were great as well. Def a keeper recipe that I will experiment with other cookies(like nutterbutter's YUM!) Thanks for the share.

Tangy Grilled Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
Great recipe. I use solely for a marinade for my chicken breasts and skipped the veg kabob part. I had no miracle whip so I used reg mayonnaise, I used apple cider vinegar, and I also added in some minced garlic for added flavor. I let my chicken sit in this for 6+ hours and it made the most moist and delicious chicken. Great flavor and I will keep this recipe for future use. THANKS!

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
Great honey mustard marinade. I think the key to getting the best flavor is to let the chicken sit in the marinade for hours and hours. I actually had the time to let this sit for 24hours and it was sooooo delicious and the chicken came out so moist because of that. The flavor tends to be more suttle if you only marinade for an hour so try to atleast let it sit for a few. Will def use in the near future.

Half and Halfs

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
5***** stars for the concept alone! I did alter the recipe to match my favorite cookie recipes. The reg chocolate chip part I did 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup white sugar, and 3/4 cup softened butter. The chocolate choc chip I did 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder, and 1/2 tsp salt. The rest I left the same and did semi-sweet choc chips in both. Absolutely delicous and nice and big and puffy. I always add in baking powder to my cookies to guarantee they wont flatten. I think it is easier to drop the choc chip scoops directly onto the baking sheet then drop the choc choc chip scoop right next to it and gently mold it together with your hands. AWESOME!

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
This was so yummy! I made it for a lemon berry trifle I was making and it was fabulous. I too used regular flour minus a Tbsp. instead of cake flour and added in a squirt of almond extract. I used my bundt pan (essentially the same thing as a tube pan) and the cooking time was more like 30 minutes. I think if you let it go the 45 minutes..it would be cooked to a crisp! Did take a little patience with prying away with a butter knife to seperate it off the pan. But well worth the effort. THANKS!

Clark's Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
My husband jokes around saying real men don't eat quiche..well now that he tried this..he thinks the name should be changed because he thought it was YUMMY and wants to remain a real man!!! Only changes were I used 2 deep dish frozen pie crusts that I baked 7 minutes prior to cooking. I left out the mushroom and added instead cut up zucchini and broccoli from my garden. I used fresh parsley as well and ofcourse..you can't leave out the garlic. My pie crusts were stuffed..just be careful to pour the egg mixture on the cheese SLOWLY..or it will just spill right off the sides. I didn't use as much cheese and don't think you really need it all. If you were to use it all I would make three pies instead. GREAT SHARE!

Lemon Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
Great recipe. I wish I read reviews first because I think it would of been better if I added in lemon rind. I wanted more of a lemon taste but it was still delicious. I did use two regular eggs and baked mine with a tray of hot hot water on the shelf below it in the oven. Mine baked in 45 min. No cracks and it looked beautiful topped with dollops of cool whip and fresh lemon slices. Will make again.

Chocolate Chip Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
First try out of the oven and I was a little skeptical..wasn't what I was expecting. More shortbready..but I decided to dip one end of the cooled cookies in melted milk chocolate and drizzled white chocolate over that and they became a masterpiece. DELICIOUS. They tasted much better when cooled and the flavors had time to rest a bit. Next time I think I will add in some finely chopped walnuts and that will complete this perfect recipe! If you are expecting this to be like a regular chocolate chip...it wont be. Thanks for the share.
