David's Secret Ingredient Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2008
Holy Cow ..these were delicious. and i've made a hundred different kinds of choc chip cookie recipes. The only change was I probably ground up more than the 4 1/2 cups of rice krispies. I got carried away..more like 5 1/2. You couldn't really taste the rice cereal but it enhanced the taste of the cookie into something great. Oh I did add 1 tsp of baking powder as well as the baking soda because I love my cookies nice and puffy. GREAT SHARE!

Blue Cheese, Bacon and Chive Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
These were a nice and different alternative to the usual pork chop. For the filling I did as others sugg and added in alittle of cream cheese and a spoonful or two of sourcream(had both on hand)to hold together better. Also I added in some diced garlic & onion, and fresh parmesan and did half feta and half blue cheese. This is a perfect filling to just go in the fridge and use up things you have left over and need to use up. I stuffed into butterflied bone-in pork chops since that's the ones I bought and dipped them in flour and fried in olive oil to brown on each side and baked covered for 40 minutes or so. Very good.

Lemon Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
If this could get more than five stars I would give this 10! If I am going to have lemon cake I want it to taste VERY lemony..and this hit the nail on the head. And moist-YYUMMMM! I glazed it with 2tbsp lemon juice, some lemon zest, and about 3/4 cup conf sugar mixed up. I took a poultry brush and after pouring on the top I brushed it all throughout the cake for a nice even glaze. Added a sprinkle of conf sugar too. The only change like everyone else was the cooking time. More like 50 minutes and I turned the oven to 350 around the 40 minute mark. Can't wait to make for others.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
I dont like giving a three but this for me had waaaayy to much honey in it. I made a second batch and just squirted in maybe a tablespoon or two of honey and added an extra teaspoon of cinnamon and MAN-OH-MAN..I must have buttered up three sweet dinner rolls(from this site) in a five minute time frame. So sweet, yummy and delicious.

Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
I have been making hot peanut butter sandwiches for years and adding in the jelly is an added treat. There is nothing like hot peanut butter and butter dripping down the corner of your mouth with every delicious bite. It is heavenly. Not diet friendly ofcourse but a much needed treat for the deserving-and we all deserve it :o) PS I do make a healthier version for the kids and just put the bread in the toaster and as soon as it comes out I add the peanut butter and jelly quick and it essentially is the same minus the butter on the outside. ENJOY!

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2008
OK-I joined in and used a can of creamed corn and lessened the sour cream to 1/4 cup but I neglected to pay attention to the tip of adding in a tad more sugar. For my taste buds it really needed it. The bread was so wonderfully moist and would have been more than perfect if only it was sweeter. Next time I will do 1/2 cup sugar and this will be a percect corn bread recipe for me.

Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Ok I made this over the weekend and wasn't too impressed with the flavor but LOVED the moist texture. Anything chocolate has to sit for a day or two to allow the great chocolate flavors to come out so wait I will. This recipe is promising though and next time for me I will add in an ounce or two of melted chocolate to enhance a better chocolate flavor. I did add a handful or two of mini choc chips as well. I love my chocolate so I guess I expect a intense chocolate taste-if you like a mediocre choc taste-this is for you. Oh-My bundt is deeply hidden so I had to improvise and I was able to make 3 loaves and the cooking time was like 50-60 minutes. I did drizzle "Satiny Chocolate Glaze" over the top as well(I wasn't kidding about my love for chocolate)..Will make again trying the melted choc.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Holy moistness! How delicious. I wanted to make this up a few hours ahead of time so I changed slightly to allow for this and not have the butter turn yucky. I was short on the bread crumbs to so I compensated my loss with broken up butter crackers and added garlic powder(since I wasn't melting the butter with garlic I used powder) and salt and pepper to that. I dredged the chicken in eggs and coated with these yummy crumbs. I cut up the butter(which I only needed 1/4 stick) and laid it all over the bottom of my 13x9 inch dish and placed the chicken on that. Then I sprinkled the cheese all over that. So I didn't change the recipe just altered it to work for a make ahead dish. FABULOUS!

Fun Cookie Suckers

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
5 stars for the concept alone. I wish I read prior reviews of adding a tad more sugar. Cookie itself tasted kinda bland-but not bad. Maybe a 1/4 cup more sugar or even conf sugar. Other than that it was fun and I think to make them look the prettiest its safe to roll the colors individually and gently attach them. They get more tie-dye looking by adding all colors into one ball and rolling out. Check out the pictures posted and you can tell the difference. Will keep in my recipe box.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
This was a nice change of pace for grilling shrimp. I marinated mine for a few hours and only had 2 cloves of garlic and it was great. I didn't have tomato sauce on hand(go figure) so I used 1/2 a can off diced tomatoes and put all the ingredients in a blender and pulsed alittle. Will make again.

Pasta Pomodoro

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
This was a good sauce. I do agree that this needs to sit for more time than stated. Atleast an hour if not more. I used half the broth and the other half white wine. Also I added a few tsps of sugar to lessen the acidity from the tomatoes. I adjusted the seasonings to my liking as well. Came out very yummy over whole grain angel hair pasta. Thanks for the share.

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
I love mashed potatoes and this is a great base..I doubled(love to have left-overs to make potatoe pancakes the next day) and added a spec more butter than called for..lets face it mashed potatoes are fattening already why not up it alittle. I have made these a few times and have also added in some sourcream for an extra creaminess and that was delicious too! Oh..instead of hand mashing I just use the mixer and whip them up good. Thanks for the share.

Rocky Road Fudge Bars

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
All the flavors are great with this recipe but the top layer was very soft and sticky. I would recommend(I wish I read reviews first) not to cook after adding the marshmallows and just pour the chocolate on top. No swirling is necessary. It looked perfect when I had drizzled the chocolate over the top but once I did the swirl it looked like a big mess and I think that attributed to consistency of the top. The only change was I did up the unsweetened chocolate in the brownie layer to 2 ounces and kept the rest all the same. Will try again because they were tasty!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2008
OK..Better Than Sex...NOT. But a wonderful wonderful treat to have right after :-). No better way to reward yourself after a workout! Five stars for sure with a few minor changes for me. I too went along with poking holes with the wooden spoon. I poured on top 3/4 of a can of condensed milk which I did not heat I also zapped in the microwave the caramel topping and also poured about 1/2-3/4 of a jar of that. I had no toffee bars so subbed snickers cut up nice. I also am not a fan of cool whip when fresh cream is so easy to make (2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup conf sugar and a squirt of vanilla-beat on high til nice and formed) I used that and drizzled fudge and caramel topping over the top and it looked like a masterpiece. And tasted like one as well! Don't pass it up. Great Share.

Scallops with White Wine Sauce II

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
Five stars for the wine sauce ..totally delicious. I didn't broil my scallops I did bake them with a crumb topping (recipe from this site "awesome baked sea scallops")but this sauce intrigued me so I used it and followed the baking and crumb directions from the other recipe. Very delicious combo. Will keep this sauce in the recipe bank!

Baked Salmon II

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
This came out soooo yummy! I did tweak a tad. I used 1tsp fresh basil minced, 1 tbsp fresh parsley, and two cloves fresh minced garlic. Marinated as directed. I placed my fillets in a 13x9 inch glass dish and just covered with foil instead of the individual wrap. OH my how yummy. Will kepp this one for future use.

The Best Slow Cooker Cream Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I used 1 1/2 packages cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar and left everything else the same. It did look like a big hunk of mess for the first few hours until all the cream cheese and butter melted nicely..then it turned creamy and I'l make again and again. Does make a ton though! Tastes better everyday to follow.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2007
YUMMY! I made five mini meatloaves and put them on top of the ketchup/brown sugar mixture in a 13x9 inch baking dish. Cooked 350 for 45 minutes. The last 10 minutes of baking I added more ketchup/sugar to the tops. LOVED IT! I was scooping the glaze off the bottom of the dish every bite. Instead of saltines..I used mostly oatmeal and crushed up some butter crackers as well. Also added in shredded carrot. That's all the small changed I did. Will keep this recipe for future use. THANKS!
