I thought 1,200+ 5-star ratings seemed too good to be true....but this recipe deserves it. I baked one Christmas Eve for yesterday's dessert. OMG! It was, first of all, the prettiest pie I've ever baked. Pouring the syrup over the lattice really makes it crisp up beautifully. And, secondly, the taste was marvelous. I impulsively added a small amount of cinnamon to the syrup at the last minute out of sheer habit but I wouldn't have needed to. Thank you very, very much for sharing this keeper. I WILL be making it again.
