I am the office mangager for a large downtown Methodist Church. I am single and have a big old tomcat named Max as a housemate. When I am not working you can find me enjoying the beautiful beaches and woods of northern Michigan, cooking for friends or cheering on our local minor league baseball team, the Beach Bums.
My favorite things to cook
I love to browse through my cookbooks and Gourmet Magazines to find new recipes to try. Often changing them a little to suit my tastes. My friends have grown accustom to my experimenting on them. No one evers seems to turn down an invitation.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking Christmas cookies every year. Trying new ones along with those That have become family favorites.
My cooking triumphs
Our church is involved in Habitat for Humanity and had a "Dining for Dollars" fund raiser. Each host would sign up to cook a meal for 8 to 10 people. The guests paid $35.00, the proceeds going to Habitat. Many of the dinners were themed dinners. Mine was Scottish. I made many scottish dishes handed down from my ancestors, meatpies, birdies, empire biscuits and shortbread. Topped it all off with a Scottish beer. It was a great success. Everyone loved it.
My cooking tragedies
I love to experiment. Somethings just don't turn out, but I never look at this as a tragedy. I think the tragedy would be to play it safe all the time.My motto, if it doesn't turn out we order pizza.
