About this Cook
I am a wife to a wonderful and supportive husband and a mother to 3 boys and 1 girl. I enjoy photography and entertaining and of course, cooking...
My favorite things to cook
I will cook anything at anytime and for anyone.I love it and don't really have a favorite. I really would like to be able to consider myself a baker (currently, I'm far from it). I would also love to decorate beautiful cakes and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hm... none that come to mind at this time...
My cooking triumphs
I would say my cooking triumphs started at a young age. Perhaps 10 when I learned how to boil an artichoke. :) This is my all time favorite dish so every time I taste the heart dipped in melted butter I can't help but feel I succeeded.
My cooking tragedies
I once ruined beef stroganoff. It wasn't edible by any standards. I think that has to be one of the easier meals to make. I have yet to live that down.

Key Lime Pie VII
The filling makes more than I expected. I bought a prepared crust--your basic shell--and had about 1 1/2 cups left over after the crust was filled completely. I recommend getting the crust that has the 2 extra servings. Also, 2 (14 oz) cans of sweetened condensed milk is not enough. It leaves you about 1/2 c. short. If you don't plan for this (which I didn't) you can use this substitute: combine over medium heat 3/4 c. evaporated milk & 3/4 c. sugar heat until dissolved. Use only what you need. The taste overall is a little sweeter than I like for a key lime pie but that might be due to the substitution. I also never got the bubbles to pop as stated in the recipe and ended up cooking it almost 15 minutes before I just took it out and am hoping for the best. ...

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread
Excellent!! I love that it makes 3 loafs at once! It's fantastic! Keep one (or two) for yourself and give the other to a neighbor. Love it! I used all purpose flour and it worked perfectly!

Shrimp Scampi Bake
This is a fantastic recipe that is best served over noodles. It is so simple and perfect. A great way to make a week night special! I followed the recipe exactly.
