To keep it simple, I'm a wife, mother, freelance writer, and continuously expanding my cooking repetoire!
My favorite things to cook
I would say that, in general, my favorite genre would be Italian. Eggplant Rolatini, Chicken Parmesan, Pasta Arrabiata and Gnocchi with Pesto are four of my menu staples. But, I also love to indulge in Mexican cuisine! Enchiladas Verde, Tex-Mex enchiladas, Salpicon, Chilie Rellenos are all on my list of regulars.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up with very Southern food in my family's home. Fried Chicken, steak, mashed potatoes, and all sorts of veggie combinations. But my father's family is German, so we also regularly had things like Sweet Rice, Cucumber Salad, Schnitzel, Red Cabbage, Sauerbraten, and homeade sausages. It was a delicious mix of cultures, flavors I'll never forget! Especially my mother's Corned Beef. I can't give away the recipe, but it is absolutely melt-in-your-mouth!
My cooking triumphs
Well, I suppose I'd have to say that I have perfected my ultimate Pralines recipe. When I make those pralines, they never last more than 2 days! And my recipes for Salsa Verde (green sauce) and Salpicon (a Mexican style marinated beef salad). Absolutely no leftovers ever!! As well as my Mango/Tomato/ Avocado Salad with a Honey Lime Dressing. I can never make enough of that to last through an entire cookout or dinner!
My cooking tragedies
Oh, I'm terrible at trying to make Fudge. I've tried recipe after recipe, and I just can't seem to get it right. It's so funny, people always say, "Oh, try this one, it's NO FAIL!" Well, apparently, if I make it, it's "Awesomely Fail"!!! LOL!
