I'm an engineer / engineering student from the University of Toronto. I'm always looking for quick recipes, as I never know when I get off work but always prefer home-cooked meals to eating out.
My favorite things to cook
I love Mediterranean food. Namely, tangy feta and well-marinated chicken dishes normally catch my attention. In fact, my favourite cook book right now would have to be a Greek cook book I picked up a few months back.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My background is Eastern-Europian / Middle Eastern; both cooking styles appeal to me. I especially like a good Borscht with "Katlyeti" (fried beef patties). I also love "Lula" kebabs aka Sikh kebabs, which are my father's specialty, served with vegetables cooked over and open flame. Yummy.
My cooking triumphs
A delicious Shrimp Pilaf I cooked recently. Served with cubed feta cheese, marinated Greek black olives, and a nice stout beer (I just like beer, sorry).
My cooking tragedies
Tried to emulate the IHOP Crab and shrimp omelette using canned crab meat. It was way too soggy and undercooked. I will have to try this again one day.
