I'm a 30 year-old mom with one toddler and I work full time, very long hours and very long commute to and from work. My husband works even more extremely long hours so I don't really get much chance to cook except on weekends. Before I got married more than two years ago, to find me cooking in the kitchen is like finding Donald Trump working in UPS as a delivery man.
My favorite things to cook
Something that people will compliment and rave over.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Ummm when I was younger and living with my family I used to sneak into my room, lock the door and play dead as soon as cooking starts :-). I'm the youngest of seven siblings (two boys and five girls) so whaddaya expect!
My cooking triumphs
I made assam laksa (rice vermicelli in fish gravy) for the first time last year and my friends raved over them! They said it tasted like what's in the shops, which is a compliment, I think.
My cooking tragedies
I pledged egg and chocolate pudding for a community gathering (I've never made those before) when I was staying at my brother's house and I didn't do a trial run. I just woke up on the morning of the gathering and just started making the pudding based on a recipe given by my sister. Needless to say they tasted bile and won't even harden so I ended up locking myself in the house and playing dead! :-)
