Chocolate Crinkles II

This is a great recipe. Keep the dough refrigerated and take out only enough to workwith. I found that once the dough gets warm it gets quite sticky and the cookies don't hold their shape well when baked. The cooler the dough is while shaping the nicer the cookies look when baked. I used a melon baller for size.

Christmas Wreath Cake

The best easy fruitcake recipe. Last year I had to make this cake three times before Christmas because we love it so much. I've already today baked one today as my hubby requested it for Thanksgiving.

Streusel Coffee Cake

To me this was very dense. I like the usual crumbly coffee cake, and I'm thinking maybe there should only be 2 eggs in here rather than 3. It was a bit too heavy for my liking. I did reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup and it was enough. Also, I added a pinch of salt. I skipped the icing part. I just did a bit of conf. sugar with milk for a lighter icing. I don't think I will make this again, as it's just too heavy of a cake for my family. It's very sweet and rich.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

crispy on the outside, chewie on the inside. I used quick cooking oats. Baked them for 9 min. Make sure you let them sit for a minute then remove to cooking rack. If you don't they crumble and if you leave them too long in the pan, you may have problems as they stick to the pan. Brown sugar in a cookie recipe ... makes the cookie a chewie one. Great recipe.

One Bowl Brownies

This is not a fudgie brownie. Other than having lots of chocolate in it, I found it wasn't very flavorable. Also, I reduced the baking time to 25 min. after reading the other reviews. It may help to put in a pinch of salt. It was easy to make. I won't make it again.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

This is absolutely one of the best scalloped potatoe recipes I've made. I used red potatoes, and the only chicken broth I had was already seasoned with garlic. I used it, and it turned out Yummie. I did put some crumbled cheese on top to melt/brown..the last 40 minutes. This is a keeper !

Tangy Grilled Pork Tenderloin

I found this recipe to be a bit bland. The outside is tastie, but the meat itself either needs more salt. I followed the recipe exactly ..marinated it for 8 hours.. turning it often and while grilling, i regularly basted the meat. I think it needs more salt and garlic would help along.

Black Bean Chili

This is absolutely a great recipe. There is a lot of chopping to do, but well worth it. I added a few garlic cloves, and then browned some hamburger and added it. Brought it to a boil, then transferred it to my slow cooker. My husband loved it couldn't get enough.

Nutritious Lentil Salad

after reading the review, I cut down on the olives, added a little garlic, pepper and a touch of sugar. I did not cook them in salt water. The olives are salty. I will make this again. The recipe makes a lot. I will half it next time.

Potato Soup III

I made some changes, I also added a clove of garlic, chopped celery and helped the flavor along with chicken b. cubes. added a bay leaf and chopped parsley. Excellent. I served it with grated Guyrere cheese and chopped green onion... Definitely excellent. I omitted the potato flakes.

Honeyed Beef Stew

This is one excellent recipe. I browned the meat and then instead of baking it, I put it into my slow cooker, and put 2 T. of instant tapioca into the sauce which then thickened as it was slow cooking. I added the chopped green pepper about 1/2 before serving. This way the pepper was not mush. My husband loved this recipe, as did my elderly mother. I served it with rice, but think it would go good with Yuca. I did add 2 cloves of garlic, as I felt it was missing something. The sauce was excellent and enough. I think if you bake it, there may not be enough gravy. It's a Keeper.

Reuben Sandwich II

This is very yummie. I used provolone cheese and pastrami. I put it in my George Foreman grill and it went real fast. My husband said as a side dish with this reuben I should have made a cucumber salad. I will the next time. We really enjoyed it. It was better than any reuben at any restaurant.

Pizza Dough I

I did not like this dough at all. It was dry and hard. I will not make it again. It was easy to make, but I'd rather have a dough that needs to rise a little. I couldn't even cut this pizza.

Polish Sausage with Red Cabbage

This recipe is GREAT !!! The only advice I have is to make sure you give yourself plenty of time and not make it at the last minute. Simmer it slowly and make sure that after you add the cornstarch and brown sugar mixture to watch it closely, as there is not much liquid and could burn easily. I simmered it real low and watched it closely. I used Alice White Merlot and it was excellent. I think that by pouring the boiling water over it would soften it a bit and reduce the cooking time. I skipped this step and it turned out excellent. Also, the color is wonderful. Definitely a keeper of a recipe. Enjoy !!!

Rum Cake II

The cake itself is easy to make and very tastie. I found that that the rum/butter/sugar topping is too rich and too much to pour over the cake. The next time I make this, I will half the topping. Also, what I did is poke a lot of holes into the cake and poured the topping down. It's a very rich cake.
