About this Cook
I recently moved to Austin, TX, then got married shortly thereafter. I use my husband as a guinnea pig for many of the dishes, but he's never seemed to mind. :)
My favorite things to cook
Breads, lots of chicken dishes, souvlaki, cakes, pies, pastas, however I always try to find a healthy way to spin them. I bought myself a kitchen-aid for Christmas 2007 and have been a baking machine ever since!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in Utah and had a lot of the traditional hearty American cooking. Meat loaf, fried chicken, casseroles, etc.
My cooking triumphs
Some of the best things I've made have been greek cusine, chicken and pasta with interesting sauces.
My cooking tragedies
I used to think that I had never had a tragedy until I decided to make corned beef in a crockpot. At the time I had a long commute and was gone for 12 hours but figured that the longer time would just make it that much more tender and delicious! WRONG! It turned the meat into a dry brick, the cabbage disintegrated. We ordered pizza that night!

Pumpkin Pie Bread
This was outstanding, but needed an additional crunch - maybe add walnuts or chocolate chips next time? Other than that, it was addictive. YUM

Sherry Wine Sauce Chicken
Delicious but needs a little tweaking. My husband suggested that maybe next time I could add mushrooms, and some parsley for some color. I halved the recipe and had an abundance of sauce as well so I recommend cutting back to anyone reading the recipe.

Butternut Squash Soup
This turned out way better than I had expected! I used two small squashes, and it made exactly 6 cubed cups. I used a hand blender to blend directly in the pot, and then decided to only use one block of cream cheese. It was PERFECT with just that.
