My name is Courtney and cooking has quickly gone from a hobby to a passion. I love picking up different cooking styles wherever I live. I was born and raised in Chicago,IL where I learned the basics of cooking from my mom and grandma, I went to college in Champaign,IL where I learned how to cook good food on a budget and now I live in Cincinnati,OH where my friends have taught me how to shop organic and choose products from local farms.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook, I've been watching my grandma since I could just peak over the stove. I have a very eclectic cooking background- my paternal grandmother and grandfather taught me southern soul food cooking, and my mother taught me Portuguese and Jewish dishes that she learned from her mom before she passed. My favorite things to cook are greens, latkes, peach cobbler and quesidillas. I also like to experiment with tofu.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family cooking traditions are having Christmas brunch at my dads house.
My cooking triumphs
Mastering peach cobbler finally! I would always undercook it becuase the top layer would be nice and done but the layers inside were still "gummy" and uncooked.
My cooking tragedies
Pre-mastering peach cobbler lol
I took an underbaked peach cobbler to work for our team food day and the dough inside was uncooked so it turned into a soupy mess when people cut in to it :(
