Pasta Queen
About this Cook
I came from Jakarta and I had the luxury of having helpers around, no need to learn how to cook whatsoever! In fact, cooking sounded quite scary - exposing myself to hot stoves and knives etc. did not sound appealing at all. Then I moved to Canada 10 years ago... My first job could only afford my rent plus a little grocery! I had no choice but to start learning how to cook myself.. Starting small... boiling water, eggs, working my oven.. Then I discovered allrecipes.com and the food channel! Loved it! I started experimenting, braver each month! Last year, we actually did a raved-worthy turkey dinner with the whole shebang. Not bad eh! Anyway, I am still afraid of deep frying, hot oil splatters, taking stuff out of the oven... but that's what a husband is for.. :-)
My favorite things to cook
Ribs! Corn Bread! Big giant meatballs! Lasagna! Pasta with whatever in the fridge! Rum Cake!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Smoked chicken!
My cooking triumphs
2 times winner of Pasta Sauce competition at my Parish - against those Italian kitchen hardcore ladies!
My cooking tragedies
This was a REAL tragedy, $1800 for kitchen damage! Instead of turning the heat for my soup pot, I turned on a pot of bacon oil my roomate left on the stove! Firemen came and saved the day.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
Awesome recipe! My husband approves! ;-) Though I found that I had to add a bit more milk - the batter rose quickly - it thickened fast - so adding more milk will give you more time before you have to put it on the griddle.

Easy Dump Cake
This was a surprise. I had a craving for a cake after work last night - but I only have 1.5 hrs to spend. So I browsed allrecipes quickly to find easy cake to make - and found this! I only had half of the sour cream tub, so I used vanilla yoghurt for the other half. I dumped everything in the same mixer, and mixed them all together - that easy. I also put peanut butter chips and almond slivers in them. My friend said this is the best cake she's ever eaten! So moist, delicious, and the easiest of all.

Chocolate Frosting I
Great one!! Easy to make and cheap (used margarine instead of butter). I loved deep chocolate taste, so I reduced the sugar a bit, and upped the cocoa powder. I paired them with One Bowl Chocolate cake III - oh yummy!
