I have been married for 39 years - have two children, a daughter and a son, and two granddaughters. I am a born-again Christian and enjoy studing the Word. I am American - but also I have taken out my Canadian citizenship - so I have dual citizenships. This works well for me as I spend almost half my time in the USA.
My favorite things to cook
Just whatever excites me that day - I love trying new recipes, as well as savoring the old ones.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family dish is Cornish Pasties - my great-grandfather came from Cornwall, England and worked in the gold mines in British Columbia. My great-grandmother made pasties for him to take to the mine to eat during the day - and to this day - over one hundred years later - they are still our family favorite. Last year (05) when my husband and I were in London, we ejoyed eating pasties at Covent Gardens.
My cooking triumphs
Chicken in phyllo with feta; chicken schnitzel; pretzel salad; scalloped pineapple.
My cooking tragedies
The worse thing happened the other day - we were having company for dinner and I bought corn-on-the-cob - I didn't check the cobs as they were in plastic bags - being sold by the dozen - 15 minutes before they were to arrive - I started pulling off the husks - I could only use 5 of the 12 and they were awful as well! There wasn't enough corn on the cobs to bother with! Next time I'll check them - as I usually do!
