Cream Cheese Frosting II

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
I'll give this four stars because the frosting was really easy to work with...nice and smooth. I did as others suggested though and only used 2 cups of confectioners sugar. Of course, I tend to be averse to super-sweet stuff.

Brownie Mallow Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2008
Oh so yummy!! FYI: Make sure you let the marshmallow and brownie cool before spreading on the chocolate mixture. I didn't and ended up with a gooey mess. Still a delicious, rich dessert. I would think it'd be even better warm.

Made this to go on fried green tomatoes and it was absolutely delicious. I think it would be excellent on crabcakes too.

Fried Green Tomatoes

These were awesome!! As some reviewers suggested, I did use Ritz instead of saltines. They were just like the local restaurant makes. I also recommend making the Remoulade Sauce a la New Orleans from this site to go with it. To die for!!

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Made this the other night and it was very good. I did have to add some sugar though to cut down on the bitterness of the beer. We ate it on hoagies with provolone cheese. Yum!!

Slow Cooker Chicken Cordon Bleu

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
I'm not sure if it was the ham I used or what but this turned out REALLY salty. I could hardly eat it. I think if I make it again, I'll use deli ham instead of leftover baked ham. I have a feeling that may have been what gave it the added saltiness. Overall though, it could've had a good flavor.

Chili Dog Casserole I

Made this for dinner tonight and the husband LOVED it. I used the revised recipe with corn muffin mix instead of hot dog buns and it turned out really good. It was especially yummy topped with ketchup and mustard.

Baked Seafood Au Gratin

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
This is a good base recipe but when I made it as is, I found it to be really bland. I added three more cups of cheese and just used 2 lbs of shrimp. I also added some white wine and chicken broth and green onions. I did as others suggested and cut the flour to 3/4 cup and added a little more hot sauce, I like things spicy. I topped the casserole with crushed up Ritz crackers and it turned out yummy!!

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
These are sooo good!! I used two cups of white sugar and added a little cinnamon as others had suggested. Instead of sour cream I used 2 cups of strawberry yogurt. And I topped the muffins with a mixture of brown sugar, butter, nutmeg and cinnamon. They are delicious!! I can't wait to make these again.

I will seriously never make this recipe again. It had absolutely no flavor!! I even tried adding the garlic like other reviewers had suggested and still nothing.

I added a diced orange pepper, a tablespoon of ranch dressing and a few dashes of Frank's Red Hot sauce, and omitted the vinegar and olive oil. It turned out really good!! I'll definitely make it again!!

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
I made this for a dinner party recently. I followed my own recipe for the filling and sauce but used the white sauce and it was delicious. I didn't buy enough half and half so I had to substitute evaporated milk and a little cornstarch and it still came out wonderfully.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

I fixed this for Thanksgiving and I liked it but I don't think anyone else was really into it. They said they preferred the Campbell's soup recipe. Go figure!! I think it was really tasty though, especially as leftovers.

Golden Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
Love, love this recipe!! I had to omit the celery because I didn't have any on hand and I also substituted about a cup of chicken broth, I doubled the recipe, for the chicken bullion because I didn't have that either. I also sauteed the onions in butter before adding anything else. One of my friends ate 3 bowls of this and then took some more home for later. :) Good stuff. It's great on a cold winter evening. I'll make this for many years to come.

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2008
Very good!! This was my first time making a cream pie and the first one I made did NOT set up. Obviously it was because I didn't cook it long enough. Because thick tends to be ambiguous in its meaning, I think it should be specified that the cream filling should be cooked until it's the consistency of pudding. I used the microwave method the second time around and it came out beautifully. I also used 1 1/2 c. of coconut milk and 1 1/2 c. of half and half. If you're looking for added sweetness I would suggest using the coconut in the baking aisle. Thanks for such a yummy recipe!!

Creamy Chicken Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
Made this today but I made a few adjustments. I added a teaspoon of combined oregano, basil, rosemary, and thyme. I also added about cup of shredded cheddar cheese. In my opinion, it gave the soup a better flavor and what isn't better with cheese!! I think another reviewer mentioned that it didn't make for very good leftovers and I agree. The rice soaked up all the moisture and I was left with a kind of pasty rice. All in all a delicious soup that I will make for years to come. :)

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2008
Good stuff. I made this for New Year's Eve and doubled the recipe. Everyone loved it. It was just like eating a buffalo chicken wing. I should add that I used the Tyson pre-sliced chicken strips in the deli section instead of boiling any chicken. I also tried to shred that as it cooked in the hot sauce and it turned out awesome!! Thanks for the great recipe.
