Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
Last minute changes caused us to be home for Thanksgiving. I didn't have all the things I needed, but thought I had gravy. Found out today (T-day) that I didn't, so found this recipe and it was a huge hit. Omitted salt like others, and didn't have poultry seasoning, but I had already seasoned water with chicken boullion cubes for my turkey and decided to see if that flavor was enough, and it was. Thanks for a great recipe!

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2009
Very yummy! I did use 2 T (6 tsp) cherry juice in the frosting, and it still needed more. Next time I will also add some cherry juice to the cookie. I think those changes will make it amazing. I also did add an extra egg to make it soft, and it was perfect texture!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2009
Yum! I made this pie last year and didn't like it. Afraid I have been used to frozen Mrs. Smiths for so long. Then I decided to make again, but saw from a review on another apple pie recipe that it is best to use a variety of different apples. I used Macintosh, Jonathan & Cortland apples. I added 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg and 1 tsp vanilla to the apples. I poured most of mixture over apples and reserved about 1/4 c to put on top of crust (did not do lattice, but just cut slits into pie). It was so good! Thank you for the recipe and thanks to other reviewers for their helpful tips! Cooked 15 min at 425 and then 35 at 350 and it was perfectly done!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Made meatballs 1/2 lb ground beef, 1/2 lb Bob Evans Hot Italian Sausage. Used 2/3 c. italian breadcrumbs and 1/4 c grated parmesean cheese & half can italian seasoned tomato sauce. Then followed the rest of the ingredients. The meatballs were flavorful and moist. For the sauce, I used 2 cans crushed tomatoes, followed the rest of the ingredients and used the remaining 1/2 can tomato sauce. The meatballs really did flavor the sauce nicely. The sauce did taste a little too salty, so next time will reduce to 1 tsp salt. Thanks for a great tasting recipe.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
This is very good! I liked it best after it had sat a day rather than warm out of the oven. I thought the flavors really came together then! Some changes I made after reading the reviews. Use 1/2 brown and 1/2 white sugar. 3 bananas instead of 2 and mush them. I cream the softened butter with the sugar (not melted). I add 1 tsp. lemon juice with the vanilla, and use 1 tsp. each of baking soda and baking powder, and 1-3/4 c. flour.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
I thought this was okay, but since my husband and two year old liked it, I am giving it a 4 instead of a 3. The chicken came out moist and tender, so that was a big plus.

I melt butter in a small skillet and then just dip the potatoes in. I put on the cookie sheet and sprinkle the top with Lawry's seasoned salt. Very good!

Beef Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
This was pretty good, but I made it more basic. I used taco seasoning instead of enchilada seasoning. I used Old El Paso medium red enchilada sauce and it gave it enough kick for us. I omitted the black olives because my husband doesn't like them. Good easy recipe to do. Thanks!

Nick's Favorite Cherry Pecan Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
This recipe was good, but didn't think to flour the cut up cherries, and they all sank to the bottom. I omitted the pecans because 2 family members don't like nuts. We had tried cherry bread at Bob Evans, and that was awesome, so I was trying to find something close. This was good, but not awesome.

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
So good! My husband said this is one of the best meals ever. I thought it was a little salty at first, but then realized I had put too much sauce on my portion, and the leftovers were just perfect. We loved how tender the chicken was, and it was so easy to make. I did substitute low sodium chicken broth for the wine, but that was it. Thanks for such a great, easy recipe. Next time I will try with the slow cooker!

Luscious Slush Punch

Great recipe. I did 1 1/2 times the recipe for a bridal shower of about 25 people, and I didn't need the extra 1/2. However, I did reduce the sugar and got did the following for 1 1/2 times the recipe. Ingredients 1 3/4 cups white sugar 9 cups water 3 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored gelatin mix 1-1/2 (46 fluid ounce) cans pineapple juice 1 cup lemon juice 6 cups orange juice 3 (2 liter) bottles 7-Up

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
I am not a macaroni fan, so I am giving you my husbands rating. He thought it was good, but could use a little spicing up. I did use 2 cups half & half, and doubled all cheeses but the Velvetta. I added 1/4 tsp garlic powder, and then a little more after I tasted it. I used white pepper instead of black, as my oldest child wouldn't have eaten it with "black pieces" in it. She liked it, but my husband and youngest really enjoyed it the most. Thanks for a good recipe.

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
So delicious. I am not much of a veggie eater, but this is something I would always enjoy! I did omit regular salt and just used the seasoned salt, and subbed garlic powder for garlic salt per other reviewers commenting that there was too much salt. I found it perfect after the switches! Thank you!

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2008
This was delicious. I followed the recipe and did as other reviewers did by rubbing salt/powder mixture into chicken breasts and browning each side a couple min. in butter. Then added can chicken broth and cooked the chicken the rest of the way in the broth. Removed chicken when done and whisked in 1/4 c. flour and cooked until thickened, which only took a few min. Added cooked egg noodles to sauce and served with chicken. So easy and good. Thanks for the great recipe!

Cheddar Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
This was good, but I added 1 tsp onion powder per other reviewers, after putting together I sprinkled on more breadcrumb/cheese/cereal mixture and then sprinkled the 2 T. melted butter on top to help it stick. I still like more flavor, so I might add a little more seasoned salt next time.
