About this Cook
I am a registered nurse and have five children and seven grandchildren. I love cooking for my family especially on Christmas Eve when the entire family gets together along with my father and sisters from Indiana.
My favorite things to cook
I lkie trying new things. Right now I'm into trying different pasta recipes. I visited my daughter twice when she was living in Italy and I would love to recreate some of those wonderful dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas Eve all the children and grandchildren and my father and sisters come for a brunch. It is a tradition that I make at least one dish each year that we have not tried before. I look for recipes that I think none of my family has tried.
My cooking triumphs
Somedays just getting everything to the table at one time at the right temperature is a triumph! I made two desserts when out of State friends were visiting and they were wonderful. Easy Pavlova and Chocolate Cream Cheese Flan, both from this site. Try them, they are easy and taste delightful.
My cooking tragedies
One year for Christmas Eve I made broiled grapefruit. This was not a hit with anyone and my children still kid me about it. I cannot bake yeast rolls of any kind, I just don't have the knack for it.

Hal's Wine Mustard
I have made this mustard many times. Now friends are bringing their empty jars back and asking them to be filled. I use this in everything from potato salad to spreading on fish before grilling. It is also great just as a dip for honey wheat pretzels.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup
I made this soup in under 30 minutes tonight. I had left over roast chicken so that cut down on the prep time. My family really loved this soup. It hit the spot on a cold snowy night.

Christmas Brunch Casserole
I served this for New Years Day brunch. It was good, all my guests liked it. I don't know what the rice cereal added. I will probably look for a different recipe the next time.
