Me!
About this Cook
I am a Registered Nurse working with newborns (Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery and L&D). I love to cook for family, co-workers and friends. It makes me happy and is a great stress reliever. Nothing makes me happier than to take a dish to work and have my co-workers RAVE about the food!
My favorite things to cook
Homemade Soups, comfort foods and sauces (to put on everything!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom made lefse and Klube when I was growing up. Haven't mastered them yet.
My cooking triumphs
My very first thanksgiving feast (21 yrs old, freshy married). Had 20+ people over in a tiny apartment and cooked it all myself. (We had to move dinner to the public meeting room within the apartment complex in order to have enough room to feed everyone!) It all turned out pretty good! My first attempt at cooking for a large group! My second best triumph was catering a birthday party for a friend for 80+ people. My oven quit working right in the middle of prep. I had to grill 500 chicken wings on my outdoor grill! The wings tasted great!! I got three more catering events that night.
My cooking tragedies
Accidentally used salt instead of sugar when making sugar cookies. (I was only 8 years old) My dad ate one and smiled and then said the "cookies are just fine, honey".

Buffalo Chicken Sliders
How Ironic! I had leftover chicken wings from the superbowl party (way too many choices and made way too much food, as usual). So I deboned them, heated up the already sauced meat, tossed that with some chopped celery and then put homemeade blue cheese dressing out for people to assemble their own sliders. A BIG hit!

Birthday Bones
I used a 1 1/4" dog bone cookie cutter I got off of ebay. My pit bull puppy loves these treats when we are doing obedience training. They smell soooo good when baking. Toby goes nuts when he smells them!

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse
I needed a "not so sweet, heavy on the chocolate decadence" dessert to serve with a Port (wine). THIS WAS IT! I served it at a food and wine pairing class. I "piped" on to white "won ton soup" spoons and topped them off with a raspberry. The hit of the evening! Not a drop left!
