About this Cook
I just re-entered the student world to get my master's, so between working half-time and going to school full-time, I'm very busy. I like to hike, I run so I can eat what I want, and I find su doku quite addictive. I love watching movies and 24 with my sweetie.
My favorite things to cook
Anything easy but tasty, especially if it's healthy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making hot chocolate and cinnamon toast on Christmas Eve, helping with the major holiday dinners.
My cooking triumphs
I finally made an edible pot roast! It was kind of dry, but the gravy was delicious and that made up for it.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't had any real tragedies in a long time...the last one was a cola pot roast. NOT a good combo.

Roasted Turkey Legs
The recommended cooking time is WAY too long. They came out really dry, even with my oven thermometer showing the right temp. The second time, I shortened the cooking period, and they were much better, but we didn't love them.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
I love these every time I make them! I really like chewier pancakes so I mix these a little longer than necessary.

BAKER'S(R) ONE BOWL Coconut Macaroons
These aren't the best macaroons I've ever had, awfully chewy, but it may be because I had to use powdered egg whites instead of regular ones. Also I didn't have almond extract so I used orange; it was a great flavor. I used sweetened coconut because it was on hand, but should have reduced the sugar; they were a tad too sweet. Any way about it, they got snarfed by the locals!
