About this Cook
My mom did all of the cooking when I lived at home. She was an awesome cook. However, she never used recipes; she always threw stuff together. I never could learn that way and got very frustrated. So I first started baking, something I could easily follow directions on. When I was in my last year of college, my boyfriend (now hubby of 16 years) had to teach me to cook simple things...spaghetti, mac n cheese, etc. I then got the cooking bug and started experimenting, looking through cookbooks as a hobby. I love to cook. Although my mom does not get to sample many of my foods, I have several friends and family that seem to love my cooking now!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts, especially chocolate things!
My cooking tragedies
Whenever a new recipe does not turn out, my husband says there is always popcorn! (His mom used to say the same thing!)

It's Chili by George!!
This was great and a big hit at the kids school. I made a double batch and put it into 2 large crockpots for a Teacher Appreciation Dinner....there was no leftovers! I did add 2 cans of petite tomatoes, a bit more ground beef AND ALSO used V8. Other than that, I would not change a thing. The consistency was right on...not runny at all....it was a nice thick chili. I made it the night before I needed it (on the stove) and then the day I needed it, I transferred it into the 2 large crockpots and let them simmer on low all day until that night.

Texas Beef Soup
This is a keeper! Instead of canned veggies, I added fresh carrots (chopped), frozen corn, and frozen peas (I do not care for canned veggies). I also added a bit more beef broth than it called for (used 2 cans). Finally, I cooked some shell noodles and threw them in the last few minutes (the kids like soup with noodles). This turned out delish!!!

Grandma's Gingersnap Cookies
These are fabulous! I love it when I try a recipe and it is a 5-star right away! I made mine a little bigger and baked them for a couple more minutes. It made about 3 dozen.
