As an Army wife, I've lived and traveled lots of places and learned great recipes & methods. I'm forever inventing things from ingredients on hand, nearly always with fabulous results.
My favorite things to cook
Alaskan BBQ Salmon and Chile Lime Grilled Halibut are favs but I can just as easily whip up a great Chicken Marsala or Eggplant Parmesan in about 30 minutes! I also put smoked salmon on a mixed green salad, and top with my special homemade sweetened oil and vinegar dressing. I also make a killer Tortilla Soup - it's to die for!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays I always make 2 minute microwave fudge, walnut and coconut baklavas, and a spiced chai tea mix to give as gifts. My mom's cranberry jello salad makes it to every gathering as well.
My cooking triumphs
Recreating my favorite dish from Straya in New Orleans - look up my Shrimp Macque Choux. A little time-consuming the first time you make it but well worth the effort in taste.
My cooking tragedies
Probably too many to recall or mention, but then isn't that how we all learn?
