About this Cook
I've been married to my fabulous husband for almost 10 years. I'm a stay-at-home mother of four, Anna (7 yrs), Sam (5 years), Ben (3.5 years) and Micah (2 years). I love to keep both myself and my children busy with projects and one of their favorite things to do is help in the kitchen. Needless to say I'm always on the hunt for fun recipes to do with them as well as mealtime recipes. We love to work in the yard and have big garden plans this year to support all of our recipe adventures! Besides cooking, gardening and general crafts, I dabble in outdoor photography. I love taking pictures of family and friends - especially children! I'm looking forward to learning more and creating even better photos.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking in general but I have to say my favorites are desserts or baking of any of sort. I also love to cook turkey at Thanksgiving. It's always a challenge and since I only do it once a year it's a slow perfecting process. I've tried several variations over the years - trying to pick one recipe to actually perfect is a hard decision for me! But I look forward to the challenge each year - that and getting to feed a hungry mob of about 20!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every November 5th my mother helped my siblings and I make "Monster Cookies" to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night (a british celebration, we lived in England for 7 years while I was growing up). I not only love the cookies but the memories they bring to mind as well. I carry on the tradition with my children even though we now live in the States. Every year we make Monster Cookies (which makes a "monster" amount! We freeze them and eat them for a month or so), it's a great fall tradition.
My cooking triumphs
Just about any dessert! Angel Pie is a family favorite that I've made often enough that it's a triumph every time. It's a pie that I'd sell if I could find a way to market it.
My cooking tragedies
Pork! Can't seem to master cooking this meat and keeping it tender. My husband would say that my only cooking tragedy was Chicken ala King. It was the first meal I fixed for him after we were married and actually, the meal itself wasn't a tragedy at all! It was just that the flu bug was passed around to everyone in my family at our wedding and it just so happened to hit us that night after our first meal at home! I couldn't cook Chicken ala King for YEARS! And even now, he'll make funny little comments during dinner if I fix it! I'll never live it down and poor Chicken ala King will forever have a bad rap in my household!

Chicken Wellington Casserole
This recipe had great flavor. I'd followed other reviewers' advice and added some seasoning (thyme, garlic, etc.) and cut the chicken up into smaller pieces. The only change I will do next time I make it, is add a little chicken broth to the cream cheese mixture. It just wasn't "saucy" enough as is. But not much, just a 1/4 cup or less, I wouldn't want to water down the fantastic flavor.

Asparagus Chicken Divan
Excellent recipe! My husband raved over it and all four kids devored it, asparagus and all! The only real change I made was to use ramano cheese instead of parmesan but only because that was what I had on hand. Will definitely use this recipe again and again.

Alfredo Sauce
Yum! And easy too. Might try with lowfat milk next time just to see how it works. But as is, delicish!
