Simple Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
I needed to doctor this one up a lot. It has no herbs, vegetables or seasonings in it other than the salt! I was going to give it one star, but the noodles turned out very well. I added a bay leaf and seasoning salt and pepper and minced onion in with the chicken while it cooked. Then added some minced garlic and put the noodles in. I tried the broth and thought it was very bland. So I added quite a few cubes of chicken bullion, parsley and a tsp of poultry seasoning. I also thickened it a bit with a cup of water with two tbsp of cornstarch mixed in to make it thicker. But that was my preference. I think this recipe has good "bones" but needs some work.

Vanilla Chip Cherry Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
The flavor of this cookie is very good, however, I followed the recipe exactly and my cookies were falling apart because they were too moist or something. Maybe use only 1/2 cup butter??? They spread a lot which is fine, but they were falling apart and did not stay together. I was disappointed.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
This stew was OK to me. I followed some of the reviewer's recommendations, but probably shouldn't have. I thought it had a "canned" taste. I could not get over that odd taste like it wasn't homemade or had too much of something in it that I can't put my finger on. It was a little too salty too. Maybe it was the seasoning packet I used. I will try this recipe again without that. I still like my homemade recipe better, but I'm always trying new things to see if I can improve on my recipe! I would not use the Beef Stew Seasoning packet like someone recommended. I think that was the weird taste. Otherwise I would follow the other recommendations.

Artichokes in a Garlic and Olive Oil Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
I made this one night for a quick dinner and it was great. I did add salt and pepper, red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese and more garlic. I used with large shell pasta which was just my preference. The basil really brings out the artichoke flavor. Will make this again.

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2007
I was very disappointed with this recipe. It came out very greasy and the cream didn't thicken like I expected it to. It almost kind of curdled. The flavor was really good, but this needs some major tweaking. Par-boiling the potatoes and doing something different with the cream. Maybe making a cheese sauce with the cheese and cream and layering that? Made this twice and didn't work either time. Plan on cooking this forever if you don't par-boil also.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
Very good recipe! Will probably cut down the sugar to 1/4 cup next time and only one tbsp sesame seeds instead of two. But that is just personal preference. Cool and refreshing salad. Loved it!

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2007
Very good. I made a big batch of these so I rolled up the burritoes and put in an 11x13 baking dish, covered with sauce and cheese and green onions and put in the oven until the cheese melted. I was initially hesitant about the tomato soup for the sauce, but it did taste good once all mixed together. Easy simple recipe.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
I've made this a few times and its always come out wonderful! But I don't make it in a crock pot. I use (important b/c stew meat toughens up) Sirloin Steak cut into chunks, saute with onion, garlic, sliced fresh mushrooms and salt and pepper, stir in the golden mushroom soup, water, and worchestershire sauce and let simmer until the meat is tender. Then stir in the cream cheese at the end. I serve over lightly buttered noodles. Doesn't take very long and its awesome! If you do not use the golden mushroom soup, it will not be the same. It cracks me up how people always substitute different ingredients and can't understand why it didn't come out. DUH!

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2007
This was good, a nice change from the regular potato salad, however I felt it was missing something. Maybe green pepper or celery or cheese? I also pan fried my bacon and just used mayo with the ranch dressing. Will have to play with, but I would definitely try. It came out very well. Maybe the cheddar cheese will do the trick as others have suggested.

Rosemary Pasta in Roasted Garlic Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2007
This was an OK side dish. A change from the buttered noodles, but not so different that kids won't eat it. I liked the rosemary flavor. There are better pasta recipes out there though.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2007
This hit the spot one night when I wanted something fast for dinner for myself. It is OK. It seems to be missing something. I put in some crushed red pepper for some more flavor. If you like artichoke, its worth a try!

Incredibly Easy Chicken and Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2007
This is incredibly easy and very delicious just like the title. I added a bay leaf in with the soups to give it a more homemade flavor and couldn't find the frozen egg noodles at he supermarket I was at, so I added extra wide egg noodles in for the last 10 minutes and a little more broth. Good stuff.

Cheesy Potatoes II

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2007
These are the best cheesy potatoes! I use this recipe for all large get togethers and get raves every time. I would set out the frozen potatoes for a while to defrost a little bit to cut down on the cooking time. Great Potatoes Here!!

Grandma's Pork Chops in Mushroom Gravy

These were great! Serve with homemade mashed potatoes. GOOD stuff!! I would use boneless pork chops with this recipe, otherwise you can get little shards of bone in your gravy. Easy and fast.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2007
This is an excellent frosting made with modifications! I followed other reviewers suggestions and used 1 cup unsalted butter, 1 cup shortening, and 5 cups sifted powder sugar, 2 tsp. clear vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp salt and added the heavy cream until it got to the appropriate consistency when whipping it. Awesome stuff! Highly recommend. THis is the BEST!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

I would give more stars if I could! Everytime I bring these somewhere, they are GONE! If you like chocolate and peanut butter, you HAVE to try this recipe. Cut these squares into small servings though, they are very rich, but to die for good!! You HAVE to make these!

Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2007
This dip was a real crowd pleaser and it went very fast. Very good dip. I would not use canned chicken as it would make this way too salty. I would go the extra step and use the freshly cooked chicken breast. I poach mine. (I season with salt and pepper and put in a frying pan and cover the chicken with water and simmer until cooked) I think the meat is juicer this way. I did add half a pack of taco seasoning also. Awesome stuff!
