About this Cook
I'm a single, busy successful woman. I love to cook but have no one to cook for... this is starting to sound like a dating profile:) I got a slow cooker for Christmas so that is my new passion. I'm just learning but loving it.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, but trying to maintain a degree of healthy lifestyle I don't do a lot of it any more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother decorated cakes for a living and my mom did all our cakes when we were kids. I love to decorate them myself and I show a huge flare of creativity but spend hours longer than I should... it definately is not as easy as grandma makes it look sometimes... I guess I need more practice.
My cooking triumphs
Despite my limitations I have made some beautiful cakes... my little brothers and sisters got some cute ones on birthdays and every year on mother's day my mom gets something cool... last year was a rainbow... full with clouds and rain... but my favorite was the bridal shower cake I did for my best friends... decked out with fishes and chocolate calla lillies.
My cooking tragedies
I bugged my mom like crazy to bake more when I was a kid but she was soo busy... She always told me when I could read well enough to follow a recipe I could try to bake... maybe I should have asked for help... I didn't know the difference between TBSP and tsp and put 3 TBSP of baking powder in my biquit cinnaman buns... a little hard and salty... but I've been going strong since.

Banana Sour Cream Bread
I do love this recipe... have tried a lot of the suggestions and haven't had any trouble... I often use ground flax seed for half the amount of flour and still have great results... I also love to add chopped strawberries or other fruit... not that it needs the added moistness as it is always lovely!!!! DEFINATELY A FAN!!!
