"Irresistable Pecan Pie" gets my thumbs up!
About this Cook
My mother's side of the family is notoriously ONLY good at baking (very good, mind you) but my paternal grandmother is a whiz in the kitchen. I hope I fall somewhere in the middle!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make desserts and I also like to cook veggies (mostly steam and sautee).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Incredibly unhealthy and tasty things.
My cooking triumphs
Various pies at Thanksgiving, cakes for birthdays, good sauteed vegetables and one lovely Yummy Yam Casserole (from this website)!
My cooking tragedies
Um I have a problem with reading the directions totally through before starting so I ran into many problems in my first year of cooking. I am now wiser and more confident (both very necessary to be a good cook!). My most awful tragedies, however, would have to be the time I burnt to a crisp my first pecan pie (and all those expensive pecans) and the time I managed to screw up boxed mac and cheese (fyi - don't cool the noodles before you mix the butter and cheese powder in).

Yummy Yam Casserole
I make this for fall potlucks and at every Thanksgiving. It never fails -- someone always asks me for the recipe and EVERYONE loves it! I used to be a sweet potato-hater before this recipe but now I crave them!

Spicy Mango Sweet Potato Chicken
Delicious! This recipe was very flavorful and relatively easy to make. The only changes I made (completely based on personal preference, not because it needed something) were to add walnuts to the finished dish and also to pour some honey over the top of it when it's done -- that way you can really taste the sweet and spicy together!

Irresistible Pecan Pie
I just finished making this pie for my third Thanksgiving in a row. It's great! I also add cinnamon (but I swear I though of that on my own! I guess it's a no brainer...) and I use the "Best Flaky Pie Crust" recipe with it.
