I was a spoilt little girl who never needed to do her own cooking. Then I got married and had to move out to my own house, and had my own kitchen, and people gave a microwave oven, an oven toaster and a rice cooker as wedding presents, and suddenly I find that I like cooking! For my birthday, my siblings bought me an electric oven, and I've been baking muffins on a near weekly basis... Muffins and sandwich fillings (or salads which I convert into sandwich fillings). I love baking and using the microwave oven best. My family loves any excuse to celebrate, so we cook for Chinese New Year, for Eid, for Diwali, for Christmas and for anything else in between that catches our fancy. Mom takes all the credit for the cooking, of course. Her children just do the chopping, the mixing, the stirring, the standing over the fire, the sweating and the clean-up afterward...
