Great Easy Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Great recipe - worth the extra step of frothing the egg whites! These came out light and airy on the inside, crispy on the outside. My only complaint was my fault - they didn't have a lot of flavor but I didn't have any lemon zest so left it out.. I bet that would have made them divine!

Bananas Foster Belgium Waffles

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
Good, easy waffle recipe. The only problem I had with them is they got fairly soggy as soon as I took them out. I didn't make the "bananas foster" part but they were pretty good with just butter and syrup. May try a different recipe before coming back to this one.

French Toast II

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly and turned up with nice smelling, soggy bread. The outside was able to brown nicely but from the first to the last piece, every single one was mushy in the middle and no one would eat it. I won't make this again.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Five stars for being a quick and tasty alternative to store-bought applesauce. Just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. My son really liked it!

Microwave Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
I made a half batch. I cooked the syrup for 1 minute, stirred, then three 30 second rounds, stirring between each round. I then added the vanilla extract and baking soda, heated it another 30 seconds and then added that to the popcorn. I only heated it an additional minute in the bag and it came out so light and crispy! My son (who never stops moving) actually sat down next to the bowl, stuffing his mouth. When I asked him if it was good, all he could do was mumbled "Mmmm-hmm!" through a mouthful. Great alternative to butter and salt!

Sweetened Popcorn

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
It was hard to get an even coating over the popcorn, even in my biggest pot. I ended up with about 2/3 of the popcorn with coating and the other 1/3 plain. The flavor was super sweet and once it cooled, had an unpleasant texture in the mouth. My 3 year old and I only had few pieces before looking for a different snack.

Jalapeno Poppers I

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2009
I put the jalapeno halves under the broiler for a few minutes to soften them up. I also used breadcrumbs instead of cornflakes and did a double coating. The crust was great! Crunchy and tasty. The filling was ok, my hubby thought they were lacking heat, even though I had added a few drops of habanero (another note about the filling - I had nearly half of it left by the time I was done filling them. Not sure if my peppers were small or I was under filling them?). Neither of us missed the deep fried aspect, which is great. I will definitely make these again, but will add a little more kick to the filling.

Country Style Fried Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
This recipe was excellent - crispy outside, creamy inside. I substituted butter for shortening since I never have any but they still came out great. Will definitely use this one again!

Mom's Best Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2009
Easy recipe to throw together in the morning. They puffed up in my Belgium waffle maker and came out crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The only downside was the lack of flavor even though I added a tsp of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Will likely make these again.

Chicken Nuggets

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I didn't get a "crisp" coating, but I gave them a 4 for ease of prep and taste. I tend to stay away from chicken breast because it dries out so easily, but I had some on hand and this was a quick, easy way to use it. The nuggets were moist and my hubby thought they were good.

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
I didn't really care for this recipe. The coating was pasty and white at the end of 35 minutes (1/2 inch bone-in chops) so I put them under the broiler for an additional 10 minutes just to get some color. They were still moist with good flavor though, so I gave them a 3. Won't make again.

Barbarella's German Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2009
These pancakes were excellent! The taste was so much sweeter and lighter than normal pancakes. I added just a pinch of salt to the batter and the only issue I had was sticking when I tried to flip them, but by the last one I got the hang of it. I put a thin layer of grape jam in the middle and sprinkle of powdered sugar on top and my 3 year old ate them up - he is normally so picky!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

These were so easy to make and tasted better than when I use the box mix. I only had 2T of butter and they still came out delicious.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
Wow, this recipe was so great! It was so quick to throw together and was done in 1 hour. I followed the recipe exactly too and I thought the texture was perfect, not too greasey at all (I used 93% lean) and my 1 year old gobbled it up! Thanks!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2006
Wow, what a great and easy recipe for a busy weekday! The chicken stayed moist (which is sometimes hard for white meat) and the coating was so simple to throw together. My BF and I really enjoyed this one served with some mashed potatoes. It really does help to give it a little sprinkle of salt after you get them out of the skillet too. I will defintely make it again!

Wild Rice And Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
The taste was pretty good, but the look of this soup once it cooled was *very* thick - kind of like mashed potatoes. If I make it again, I'm going to add much less flour/butter mixture so it will hopefully come out more like a soup.

Beth's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
My boyfriend said these cookies looked perfect - like they came right out of a box. They have a light crackle on top, soft chewy center and lightly crisp edge; however, I didn't think they tasted the best. They either needed to be more salty or sweet, but they are certainly worth a taste :)

Crispy Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2005
While these were not as thin and therefore lacking the real potatochip-like crisp I was looking for, the taste was really delicious. I'll save this recipe for a slightly thicker version and also add an extra 1/2 teaspoon or more of spices.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2005
This is just what I was looking for! The filling was nice and thick and the use of premade pie crusts made the recipe so easy. I made a few changes - no onions because my boyfriend doesn't like them. I just cooked the cubed chicken in the butter, removed the chicken and added the flour/chicken broth mixtures to the leftover butter. I let that simmer for about 15 minutes. Also, I added one small potato to the boiled veggie mix (everything cut in about 1/4" cubes). Didn't add the celery seed either, but no one seemed to miss it :) Thanks Roberta!

Dinah's Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2005
I used up an Italian cheese blend I had sitting in the fridge instead of the parm and mozzarella. Also, I omitted the green bell pepper and onion and added 2 green onions and a few mushroom stems. I made a half recipe and used about 1/4 cup butter for the mix then used butter spray to "drizzle" on top - still incredibly delicious!
