Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
These cookies are FANTASTIC!!! I made them a little smaller than the recipe says using a 1/2 TBSP measuring spoon for consistency. It took 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven for them to be perfectly brown on the bottom with no browning around the edges, and they came out to what I think was a perfect size. At the advice of another reviewer, I used a chap stick end to make the "thumbrints" and it worked beautifully. What a pretty (and great tasting) little Christmas cookie! These are definately a keeper!! Thanks to Dee for sharing the recipe :D

Peanut Blossoms II

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
This recipe is awesome!! I've been using the same one for years, with just a few variations: (1) For a slightly more moist and chewy cookie, use butter in place of the shortening (no, they do not come out flat this way - they maintain their shape perfectly). The flavor of the butter also helps take the taste of these cookies to a whole new level!! (2) Bake them at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, pull them out of the oven and put the kisses on them, then put them back in the oven for 1.5 to 2 additional minutes. If you do this, the chocolate takes on a new, slightly softer texture once it cools. It still hardens, but not QUITE as hard; and it suits the cookies much better when it's time for eating. Whether you take my advice or follow the posted recipe, I urge you to try these cookies. You won't be disappointed! This is THE classic Peanut Butter Blossoms recipe, and everyone you feed them to will love them :)

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
Thanks for sharing. This recipe is amazing!! I used only 1 Cup of zucchini because it was all I had and it still turned out wonderfully. I did take the advice of other reviewers and substituted 1/2 C. of Apple Sauce for half of the oil to cut down the calories and fat a bit. I'm so glad I stumbled across this recipe! This is one I'll make over and over again.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 26, 2009
What can I say that hasn't already been said in the 3000+ great reviews of this recipe??!! These cookies are soooo good!! I made them a little smaller than the recipe calls for, so I could send them with my fiance to his pot-luck at work. I had to cook them a few minutes less because of this. For slightly smaller cookies, use 2 TBSP of dough for each one, and bake for 12 minutes instead of 15. P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!! Thanks for sharing this awesome recipe :)

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
Wow!! These cookies are awesome! I followed the recipe for the most part, but made a few changes. As others have suggested, I cut the amount of salt in half because I used salted butter. This is a great suggestion. I did not use walnuts, but instead doubled the chocolate chips to 2 cups. Also, I used a food processor to grind the oats down a bit. This gave the cookies a smoother texture, and also helped them not to spread so much, as others have complained about. Overall, a really great tasting cookie!! Thanks for sharing!

Cabbage Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Thanks for sharing this recipe!!! I've made it over and over again since I first stumbled upon it, and my whole family loves it. I'm giving it 5 out of 5 stars because it's a great concept and it lead me to a new family favorite; but in my opinion it needs a few adjustments. The first time I made it I followed the recipe exactly and we found it to be a little overpowering. Since then, I make it with the following changes: I use half the cumin, half the pepper, one 16 oz. can of kidney beans, one 15 oz. can of tomato sauce, two 14 oz. cans of chicken broth, and no water. I also added 1/2 tsp. each of garlic powder and onion powder. This suits our tastes much better and makes the soup alot less chili-like. I also leave out the oil because I don't see a need for the added calories/fat, and have found that leaving it out doesn't take anything away from the soup. To make this recipe in alot less time: Fry the hamburger and onion in a large soup pot until browned, drain, and put back in the same pot. Add all of the other ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil. Once boiling, turn the heat down to med-low and cover with a lid. Simmer for 1/2 hour to 45 minutes or until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally. Serve and enjoy :)

Basic Crepes

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
These crepes are great, and so simple! I used this recipe the first time I made crepes, and they turned out perfect. I served them to friends for desert (filled with smashed strawberries and blueberries, banana slices, and vanilla ice cream; and topped with drizzles of chocolate sauce). Everyone loved them and asked me for the recipe. Thanks so much for sharing :)

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This is the best sugar cookie recipe I have found. Thanks for sharing! I made a basic cookie icing and decorated them for the holidays, and they turned out fantastic! I took the advice of a previous reviewer and used parchment paper to roll the dough on and to bake on, and that worked really well :)

Beef Stew VI

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
This recipe is excellent. The meat comes out very tender, and the veggies are perfectly done (not hard, not mushy). I took the advice of another review the first time I made it and added some red wine, but found that I like this recipe better without it. It tastes much more like a traditional beef stew with the water alone, though I do add a little garlic and onion powder which I would highly recommend trying. Less is more with this recipe. It's almost perfect just the way it is. Thanks so much for sharing it!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
This is an excellent recipe! I added carrots, corn and celery to give it a little more substance. I also used half and half instead of heavy cream as others have suggested. The soup was everything I hoped it would be! It tasted great, and the consistency was perfect! Thanks for sharing!

Ranch Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
These crackers were super easy to make and they taste so good! I gave 4 out of 5 stars because I did tweak the recipe a little. I used 1/2 cup of oil and 1/4 tsp of dill weed. I mixed them by shaking them in a covered bowl, and the coating was perfectly even! Thanks so much for sharing this fun and simple recipe!

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2005
This recipe is WONDERFUL!!! It went over very well in my house the first time I made it (years ago now), So I continue to make it every time we have left over ham. Since the first time I made it I've used sour cream with chives, and it tastes great that way. My whole household loves it, and everyone else that tries it demands that I give them the recipe (my parents, grandparents, in-laws, friends, co-workers, literally everyone who tries it). You should definately try this recipe if you haven't already. It's so easy, and sooo good :)
