I love cooking for my husband and my children and grandchildren. Sharing meals with them is one of my life's greatest pleasures.
My favorite things to cook
I love making breads and muffins and cakes. And I am very comfortable with Tex-Mex cooking, having been raised on the border.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have fond memories of coming home from school to all sorts of wonderful smells from my mother's kitchen. Mom involved her 7 children in the kitchen and taught us all the value of families eating together. Now I have the joy of passing on these traditions to my children and grandchildren. I have compiled a book of family recipes for my children and neices and nephews, complete with family stories and quotes to ensure that our traditions will continue for generations to come.
My cooking triumphs
My husband tells everyone that I make the best pecan pie in the world. It's my mom's recipe, so I can't really take the credit.
My cooking tragedies
I once had to throw away a whole batch of cookie dough when, as I was mixing it, I realized one of my fake nails was missing. Then there was the time I mistakenly used cayenne pepper instead of chili powder in a Texas Hash recipe. My little sister has never let me forget that spicy dish.
