About this Cook
I love to cook and try all types of things. I will cook for anyone who wants to eat, since my family, husband of 27 years and 3 kids, get a little tired of all the experiments.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try all kinds of exotic, foreign cooking, with all kinds of ingredients. My specialty right now is Thai food, and I found the perfect little Asian store to pick up all the spices and vegetables. I also love to bake breads and make desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We had the kids do a weekend project each month, where they had to pick a country, research it and then make a restaurant to serve food from that country. They were wonderful and we ate all kinds of things that the kids still remember. We also bake all kinds of cookies for Santa to eat on Christmas Eve.
My cooking triumphs
So many triumphs and so many failures! I guess the best was cooking meals for 500 people at Fundraising Dinners at the elementary school, and pulling it all off, after researching recipes for months! No one thought the food from Africa would be a sell out with elementary school kids - but it was!
My cooking tragedies
Lots of mornings waking up to the wonderful smell of fresh baked bread, only to find out that I forgot to put in the yeast! Cooking a huge tray of Vegetarian Mousaka for hours, and then dropping it on the way to the table.

Mexican Bean Salad
I make this salad every night before our big parties, to give the flavors time to blend. It is always well recieved - many people just can't stop eating it. I make it exactly to the recipe and it always gets rave reviews.

Greek Pasta Salad
I make this pasta salad every time we have a large party (which is often) or a potluck. It is a welcome change to pasta salad, and it is usually completely gone by the end of the evening. I also use olive oil, fresh minced garlic and dried oregano. Then sprinkle the whole thing with feta cheese. Always a winner!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken
Started making this to marinate, and then had an emergency and had to leave. So I put it all in the crockpot. 4 hours later it was perfect...my daughter's favorite meal is teriyaki chicken, and she said this was the best ever. Gobbled up the juice on white rice.
