Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
Excellent, spicy and fresh chicken wings. So easy to do. I do understand that these may not be authentic, but for the vast majority of the U.S. these are what is considered 'buffalo chicken wings'. I made it with fresh Maytag blue cheese dressing, celery and hot dogs with mustard. Unbelievable.

Individual Beef Wellingtons

Wow, what a delightful dish. I often serve filet for special meals, and this added that special touch to make it fun and different. The flavors are classic combinations, and the recipe works well exactly as written. The meat was so flavorful and tender - the cooking times were accurate. However, I have made some variations for fun on some occasions - I've added feta to the paste mixture, and I've swapped shallots for onion

What a great side dish! I used 2% milk instead of cream, and I thought it tasted very rich. I can't wait to break this out at Christmas :)

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
For some reason, this recipe came out watery, and the cream cheese never seemed to melt properly in the mixture. It was more like cream cheese clumps in a watery stew. Maybe cream would have worked better. It just didn't work for me.

Jerre's Black Bean and Pork Tenderloin Slow Cooker Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
Delicious! The house smelled amazing when I got home from work. Like many reviewers, I used pork loin instead of tenderloin. When you are slow cooking like this, you can often use cheaper cuts of meat, since the low and slow heat tenderizes just about anything. Even after shredding the pork, I felt the consistency was more like a stew than a chili, but I was actually happier with that result.

Very nice and wholesome meal. I made a large batch and froze for quick, easy dinners later. Next time, I will add more beans, jalapenos and spices.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2009
This was so delicious. I accidentally forgot to add the oil to the dough, but the pretzels turned out great anyway. As suggested by many reviewers, I brushed the baked pretzels with salted butter after they came out of the oven. I made a variety - plain, garlic and honey. All were excellent. The baking soda bath makes the final product nice and brown. Great for football games!!

Mushroom Orzo

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2009
Great recipe! I loved the earthy, rich flavor. And it was a one dish recipe! I halved the butter. It stuck a tiny little bit at the end, but the flavor and texture was there. Also, I didn't have pearl onions, so I thinly sliced a white onion and it was fine.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2009
I thought it was a very tasty soup. I used a food processor (since I didn't have a blender handy), and I thought it added too much air to the soup. Next time, I will use a food mill. Substituted rosemary for the marjoram.

Delicious. I made this with fresh dill from the garden, and it was very refreshing on a hot summer day. I served with fresh baked bread. Yum. I substituted sour cream for the mayonnaise, and it was light and creamy.

Fresh Cherry Cobbler

This is a great cherry cobbler recipe. It can be used for a variety of fruits - just tried blueberry tonight. The best part is that it is so easy and wholesome - so much better than powdered baking mixes. It can be made in a pinch - so it's a great dessert for dinner guests.

Great little cookie recipe. Definitely different from the normal recipes. I baked as directed, and the cookies stayed good for days. Don't overbake - I'd bet they'd be rock hard if you left them in too long. However, 10 minutes worked perfectly.

Fast and Easy Ricotta Cheese Pizza with Mushrooms, Broccoli, and Chicken

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
Very good recipe. You can mix the ricotta cheese/butter with just about any herb or spice. I used a blend of garlic powder, green peppercorns, shallots, marjoram and thyme. I also used fresh mozzarella. Use a pizza rack to avoid the crust getting soggy (the broccoli adds a bit of moisture when it thaws). Excellent recipe for a lovely weekday dinner.
