I'm a student at University holding a part-time job, so I don't always have time to cook when I want to. When vacation comes though, I love to wake up and bake cookies or bread, and then get ready to make a big dinner for my boyfriend and my family.
My favorite things to cook
I'm a big fan of different Asian cuisines, but I think my favourite thing to cook is Italian. I also love to make breakfast foods, as well as cookies and other desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't hold many traditions, but my dad is wonderful at the grill - he once continued barbecuing even through our house being hit by lightning! So a big barbecue dinner is always fun here.
My cooking triumphs
I think my biggest triumphs occur when I create recipes from scratch (like a red pepper bisque that I made) or learn how to make something by reading several different recipes and combining them all in a way that I like.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make zucchini bread, I put way too much batter in the bread pan, and of course, halfway through baking, the top was cooked, but there was batter falling out the side. I took ended up cutting off the top, and scooping some of the batter into muffin tins to make muffins and cutting off some of the unbaked part of the bread. We liked it, but my mum wondered why there were only crust pieces of bread.
