About this Cook
My husband is an incredibly good cook so I got into cooking to keep up with him! Plus, I just LOVE food, thinking about it, shopping for it, prepping it and cooking it! And, of course, we both LOVE to eat and we enjoy taking care of the people we love. There's nothing better than having people here to cook for them! We're a house of "food is love".
My favorite things to cook
I like to make one pot things- soups, chilis, sauces. I have a few recipes that I always come back to, but I try to cook a new recipe every time I make dinner. We also love to experiment with bbq ribs on the grill.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We have a Christmas brunch tradition- started by my husband's parents- Eggs Benedict, hash browns and mimosas. What a great, relaxing way to spend Christmas day....ahhhh
My cooking triumphs
Even though I'm not a baker, I enjoy decorating cakes. I did an Elmo cake last year for our child's birthday and it came out perfectly! I was so proud!
My cooking tragedies
I recently made two new recipes- one pot meals- that had onions for one of the base ingredients. The first recipe wasn't that great, but I just figured it was the recipe. The second recipe was awful too. The onions were the only thing they had in common. I think I used old onions. Anyway, all the prep and cooking and excitment of looking forward to a new recipe, literally down the drain!

Mama D's Italian Bread
Can't wait to make this again! Soooo good- makes great toast with the leftovers too! I needed a lot more flour- like 3 cups extra- and it was still pretty moist. I made 2 fre form loaves. Great recipe!

Ten Minute Chipotle Spiced Beef and Bean Chili
Made with ground turkey- threw it all in the crock pot before I left for work this morning. I added a 1/2 jar of chipotle salsa because I wanted more tomato-y flavor. This was GOOOOD! I used 1 can kidney beans and 1 can of garbanzo beans b/c it's what I had in the pantry.
