I know I should have written this years ago!
I'm a single mom of two girls, 17 and 23. Oldest going to college in Phoenix,Az. I work full time as an emergency road assist operator. My boyfriend and his 16 year old live with us. We both enjoy great food, and cooking. Just wish the girls would take over once in a while :) We love all recipes.com and have been enjoying many great recipes over the last few years. We were also very surprised of how well recepted our own submitted recipe did. Thanks to for all the great raves.
My favorite things to cook
I really don't have any particular favorites. I really have learned to like to BBQ (everything)..lol! I pride myself in great marinades, rubs, and sauces. I am not much of a baker, but hold my own. I would just have to say that my favorite things to cook are the meals my girls devour.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite family traditions are the things I was taught to cook by my mother, aunts, and grandmothers. German potatoe Salad, Baby Limas and Hamhocks, (although I have a hard time finding fresh hamhocks where I live), 7 bone roast with vegetables, Biscuits and White Gravy,Egg inside Toast, Drunk Turkey, homemade Chili, Hamburger Pie. This list is endless, nothing really spectacular, just all the home town favorites.
My cooking triumphs
I would have to say that I have mastered the art of BBQing. I was always afraid to grill, but now it actually has become my friend. I had never BBQed Baby Back ribs before, until I found the "Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs" recipe on this site. I have made them many times now without fail, they turn out perfect every time. My other triumph has been to learn how to use fresh herbs, and spices. I am actually trying to grow my own, easier said then done...LOL!
