About this Cook
I just moved to Seattle from Minnesota and am loving getting to know my new city and patronizing the Pike Place Market. I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, writing, spending time with friends and family, exercising, skiing, and being outside.
My favorite things to cook
Beef stroganoff is a staple in my home, I love to experiment with pastas and casseroles, I make a lot of biscuits and my favorite is definitely baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was a toddler I would sit up on the counter with my dad and cook breakfast everyday. He'd even let me crack the eggs. I attribute my love of cooking to my fond memories of cooking with my dad. Now that I'm grown, we still love to be in the kitchen together. He makes the best pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.
My cooking triumphs
Most recently, I made my first ultra successful Thanksgiving meal, with the help of you all at allrecipes.com. My food was so delicious and I was very proud of myself. I'm becoming more comfortable in the kitchen and trying to experiment more often to create new meals.
My cooking tragedies
Oh there was only one real tragedy. I tried making ravioli from scratch. After spending the better half of the day making ravioli dough and filling I was very disappointed when it turned out tasting like paste. It was disgusting. Then, to top it off, I set the bread on fire under the broiler. I have never had a worse day in the kitchen. I think I went without dinner that night because I was so upset.

Sarah's Applesauce
Excellent flavor! Consider blending/processing the mixture for a creamier texture.

Broccoli Beef II
The flavor of the beef was terrific - I think that it's a great start. What I didn't like about this recipe is the pasta. I would cook this with rice or with Asian noodles instead. I would also replace the 1/2 c of beef broth with water and beef bouillon in the sauce. I think that adding a little bit of corn starch to the sauce would make it a little thicker/richer instead of thin and watery. This really is a great recipe though - lots of flavor & Asian flare.
