Microwave Caramel Popcorn

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
I was in the middle of a late night, bunny slippered must have crunchy / salty / sweet / chewy super craving fit. I tried this recipe because I just happened to have all the ingredients. Who knew that I was soon to be in snack heaven? Dinosaurs walked the earth when my microwave was born so I actually upped all the times. Ok, that’s not quite true. I didn’t up the times when the popcorn was supposed to be in the paper bag. That’s because I didn’t use a paper bag. After I put in the baking soda I tasted it and said, good enough, mixed things together as well as I could in a large bowl and ate it. Remember, this was an EMERGENCY! I figured it was late enough that the popcorn police wouldn’t catch me. Turns out that the unmixed globs of caramel at the bottom were some of favorite bits. This stuff is wow.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
My husband was in hog heaven! He didn't use the dip, but slathered them with horseradish and yummed them right down. They reminded him of a sandwich that he ate growing up in Western NY called a Beef on Wick. Thanks!

Best Tuna Melt (New Jersey Diner Style)

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
Wow. Very good. Quintessential tuna melt. Only change we made was to use 2 pieces of bread and grill it in a sandwich press.

Val's Hungarian Jewish Chopped Liver

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
This was very good. I made the full version as written, And the instructions are great and it came out yummy. My mother-in-law makes a simpler version with only butter, onion, chicken livers, eggs, paprika and salt/pepper.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2005
Fantastic. After reading the other reviews, I only added a cup of sugar and they turned out just sweet enough. They came out like blueberry muffins, and you couldn't tell the zucchini was there at all. I also added a little lemon zest, just because I had some i needed to use.

Creamy Turnip With Paprika Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2005
Yummy!! I didn't have quite enough turnips, so I added some celery to make up the volume. We ended up having this on a very hot day, so after tasting it hot and loving it, we decided to try it cold, and it was great that way too. I’m not sure which I liked better. This recipe is going into the file of foods I make every few months.

D' Best Chicken N' Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2005
They were OK. They did have the comfort food feel that I was looking for, but were otherwise rather bland and had a rather goopy feel in the mouth.

Connie's Zucchini 'Crab' Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2005
I added a little imitation crab to increase our fish intake and to add to fun. Also, I let the patties set up in the freezer for about 30 minutes to help keep them together in the deep fryer. Will make this again.
