A very good cookie - but 2 cups of chocolate chips is too much. 1.5 cups is plenty

This icing was really great. We used it with the Black Magic Cake from this site and it was a perfect match. We had no problem spreading the icing on the cake (we put the bowl and beaters in the freezer in advance) - but we used the icing on the cake right away (didn't have to put it in the fridge at all before frosting). I does however make extra - and it's in the freezer for now. Not sure how/if we will use it. I would reduce the recipe by 1/3 if making a two-layer 8 or 9 inch round cake.

Made this cake for a birthday dinner and it was a BIG success! We followed the recipe exactly as written (except we didn't have buttermilk so we used 1/4 cup buttermilk powder with 1 cup water) - but other than that it was just as written. We had no problem getting the cakes out of the pan (some reviewers had problems with this - we buttered and floured the pans). We used the whipped cream cheese frosting from this site and it went really well with this cake. Highly recommended and we will bake this cake again and again. 5 stars!
