About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Since I am from the south, I love to make good old southern food. Pickled okra, fried chicken, potato salad - anything that sticks to the ribs. I am a working mom, so I take old fashioned recipes & make them quicker and healthier.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is from the Czech Republic, so I love to make dishes from the old country. Apple/pear strudel is my specialty & I am perfecting my fruit-filled kolaches.

Millionaire Pie
Thank you so much for the recipe! I followed it exactly and the pies came out great. Be sure to FOLD in the whipped topping - if you put it in a mixer, it will turn to goo (as I have found in the past). That's probably why others have had trouble with it being runny. I will make these again & again!

Broccoli Casserole
This dish was very tasty! Since I sauted the onions in butter, I left the butter out of the recipe. There was a nice blend of ingredients - had a great flavor.

Candied Sweet Potatoes
These were amazing! I used canned yams and, based on other reviews, I cut the butter & brown sugar down to 3/4 cup each. I also like a little texture, so I added 3/4 cup of chopped pecans. Delicious!
