Fried Onion Rings

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
This was pretty good. I used it for onions, but also on some green beans.

Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
This was tasty and fairly easy to work with. I did have trouble getting it to stick to the dog, but I suppose that's normal. I froze them for quick snacks for my husband. Mine turned out a lot prettier than the ones in the picture, too.

Ally's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2006
Since the main complaint seemed to be that these cookies were flavor-free, I added another cup of white sugar, 3x the vanilla, some cinnemon, twice the chocolate chips, and no salt. I also didn't cook them as long, due to my altitude. They definitely don't need to be soaked in anything, but unfortunately, they still have no flavor. They are sweet, but no flavor. We concluded that the cookies just taste like oatmeal with chocolate chips. I gave 3 stars though, because I think I might make these again, minus the chocolate chips, as a "breakfast cookie" that I can grab on my way out the door in the mornings. PS- They did run all over the pan and had no shape, but that was ok with me. And they were doughy, but I like my cookies doughy.

Hungry Man's Hash Browns

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2005
I made this a cople of months ago. I'm sure I added a bunch of cheese, pepper, garlic, and scallions. I remember that they came out sort of mushy, but the flavor was there.

Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2005
Spectacular! Ok, per other member's suggestions, I added garlic and celery. I used only one package of cream cheese. When it was done, the flavor was great, but it was WAY too rich. I added milk until it became soupy enough for me. Next time I will add broccoli.

I wish there were a better rating system. These things were fabulous, but they took so long to make, I'm not even going to think about making them again.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

I made it just as it said, except I added only onions. I thought with 300 reviews and 4 1/2 stars, it had to be good. It even sounded ok in the recipe. Wrong.

Party Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
Mine came out crispy, bland, and colorless. They reminded me of eating dog treats. It's a great idea, but really falls flat. I'm not a good enough baker to know how to modify this recipe to make this excellent idea get off the ground. I'm giving this two stars because my husband ate more than one.

Homemade Shake and Bake Mixture

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
I'm giving it five stars because it tastes exactly like Shake 'n' Bake and it is very easy. I personally don't even like Shake 'n' Bake because I think the celery salt is too strong and it has no other flavor. I made it for my husband who liked it a lot. I'm pretty sure this would also work with pork.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2005
Oh, my gosh. That was the best meal I have ever made! It's FANTASTIC! Just note that it makes a TON of food. I added chicken: I cut two chicken breastes into tiny little peices and cooked them in olive oil, soy sauce, and the flavor packets from the ramen noodles and then dumped it in the oil mixture to soak for a few minutes. The only thing, if you do that, you don't need to add as much soy sauce to the oil mixture at the end.

Fish Fillet Florentine

My husband loved it. I thought it was pretty good. I added 1/2 tsp of chili powder. I also left off the spinich, as my husband won't eat it.

Garlicky Summer Squash and Fresh Corn

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2005
That was the best squash ever! My husband even ate it! Oh, I did leave out the corn, but the squash was awesome. Oh yeah, I also didn't have any broth. I just used water instead. I think I may have added some scallions, too.

Cheesy Enchiladas

Five Stars! Awesome. I thought they were fantastic. I added scallions and next time I will add garlic and chicken, but they were GREAT! I liked the chunkiness of the salsa. Gave it texture.

Quick Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2005
It was good. I admit that I did not have the tomatoes, so I skipped that part. Maybe it will be fabulous next time when I have tomatoes. And I have a rice cooker to cook my rice, so I never do it on the stove. That may have affected it, too.

Pesto Cheesy Chicken Rolls

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2005
Hey, that stuff was awesome! I didn't bother to roll it up. I just put about 8 oz. of slices mozzarella on top of flattened chicken breasts. It was fantastic. My only minor complaint is that it came out slightly dry, but I guess all baked chicken is like that. Next time I make it I am going to let the chicken soak in the pesto over night, and I am going to cover it in the oven.

Snappy Green Beans

I try lots of stuff to get my husband to eat green stuff. I don't like bacon, so I only used half. In the end, we both found it quite yummy.

Bierock Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2005
Eh... It was ok. The idea is great, but it definitly needs something. I don't have enough experience to know what to put in it, but it needs more kick. I'll probably make it again, but I'll have to figure out what should go in it. Bacon? Worchestershire sauce? UPDATE: I made this stuff again, but this time I added a lot of pepper and garlic powder. I also used Worchestershire sauce and put half the cheese UNDER the cresent rolls. But the things that made the BIG difference were the 1/2 c each of sour cream and "salad dressing." I've never had Beirock, so I don't know what it is supposed to taste like, but it seems to me that pasties should have creamy filling. The sour cream and salad dressing really did the trick.

The Amazing Swedish Meatball

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2005
I'm not in love with meat balls, but my husband loved them. I don't know what everyone says about them being too salty. Mine weren't, but I didn't make the sauce. We ate them with spagetti.

Mama Corleone's Sausage and Peppers

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2005
My mom is always sauteing bell peppers and garlic that leaves something to be desired. The oregano, basil, and permesian cheese are the answer. Serving it over noodles is a great idea, but the sausage didn't do much for me. And definitely don't leave the peppers in such long strips. It makes them hard to eat. (PS- I remember reading about this in The Godfather, but it still doesn't seem like a Corleone family staple.)
