Shepherd's Pie

This is a good base recipe, but like so many others I made a few changes to suit our tastes. I seasoned the ground beef as it was cooking with rosemary & thyme. I also used fresh baby carrots, a small onion, chopped celery and some mushrooms rather than canned veg (yuck). I mashed the potatoes with a little butter and milk and left out the butter on top. I baked for 25 min. then added shredded cheddar and baked until bubbly (about 5 min.). This was really good with my changes. My hubby and my daughter both liked it so we will have it again.

Roast Beef and Gravy

Amazingly simple and delicious. I was skeptical of not searing the meat first but it came out perfect just the way the recipe says. I did cook it on high for 4 hours then low for a bit after that until we were ready to eat and it was fine. Great recipe! Thanks!

Jambalaya Casserole

Great great great! I cut it down to a third of the original recipe and dint' have peppers or celery on hand but did everything else as it was called for and also added a can of kidney beans. It was amazing! I used my cast iron dutch oven and it was awesome... made a TON too so we will be enjoying leftovers tomorrow.

Easy Pork Chop Casserole

This was passable but really not that great... especially as is. I made the recommended changes based on previous reviews and I'm still not that impressed. It was okay but I won't be making it again. It just isn't as good as my go-to pork chop recipe.

Traditional Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
Amazing! This was absolutely perfect. I had never made lamb stew before because it's usually hard to find lamb at the local market. I chose this recipe because it had a good rating and after reading the reviews I dusted the meat with flour as suggested and did not have to do any reducing at the end. This was so delicious!

Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken

I've made this many times. So wonderful! Very comparable to the Chicken Adobo my friend's family made when we were growing up (they are Filipino). Absolutely delicious. I use white vinegar to cut down on the stink factor while cooking.

Jiffy Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
This was sensational! My husband and I can't wait to eat it again for leftovers tomorrow! I didn't have any green peppers on hand so I omitted that. I also added a can of New Orleans style red beans (drained), used 2 minced garlic cloves instead of garlic powder and I cooked regular white rice in a separate pot (not enough room in my skillet) and combined the sausage mixture with the rice in a large bowl after simmering for 20 min. Couldn't have been better!

All-American Pork Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2010
This came out just perfect! My mom raved that this was the best BBQ Ribs she'd ever had and my sister agreed... and trust me these 2 ladies are as picky as they come. The only thing that I did differently was simply as a matter of taste, I added a little oregano when I seasoned with salt and pepper... DELICIOUS AND EASY!

Bruschetta Chicken Bake

Ahhhmazing. My family loves this meal. It's super easy and comes out just delicious! I am a hug fan of this recipe. Although it's great without changing a thing, it can also be customized for just about any taste. When I make it for my husband I use spicy diced tomatoes and when I make it for my mom, I use less cheese, no salt and dice fresh tomatoes. Always a pleaser in my kitchen!

Spicy Hot Chicken Legs

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2009
Although these drumsticks were nothing like "hot wings" I found this recipe to be just delicious. I used my favorite buffalo style hot sauce and halved the recipe since I didn't want to make so much of something I had never tried before. I did the legs in the crockpot for 2.5 hours then it only took about 20 minutes for them to get good and crispy in the 400 degree oven. I wonder if this recipe would work well for BBQ sauce as well? Served with rice and sauce. Yum yum.

Slow Cooker Lemon Garlic Chicken II

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
This recipe was 5 stars when I made some minor adjustments and followed the advice of other reviewers. I added rosemary to the oregano rub mix because thats what we were in the mood for today. I also added chicken broth to cover while cooking and placed some mixed veggies in the bottom of the slow cooker before I put the chicken in. Sensational.

G's Flank Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2009
It is so hard to find recipes for tougher cuts of beef so I was really excited to find this marinade. I used this with an undershoulder cut and let it marinade in the fridge for 6-7 hours. We don't have a BBQ since ours recently broke so I braised the meat in the over with a mixture of marinade and added chicken broth. Cooked at 325 for 1 hour 15 minutes and it came out perfect! Tender and full of flavor. I even threw in some carrots and potatoes to braise along with the meat. I will definitely make this again. Kudos on the great marinade!

Slow-Cooked Oriental Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
My fiance really loved this recipe. I actually cubed the chicken though so it didn't take quite as long to cook and it was easier to portion out. About an hour before time was up I added frozen stir fry veggies then right at the very end I added chicken broth whisked with flour to thicken and pineapple chunks. All in all, this was a good one that I'll make again!
