About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake cakes, cookies, and breads. I love reading cookbooks. I am always trying new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Indiana sugar cream pie!! We love chicken homemade noodles over mashed potatoes. My in-laws had a smorgasboard restaurant that was always full of people. They had the very best salads there. My mother in-law is the greatest cook I know. She has taught me well!
My cooking triumphs
Indiana Sugar Cream pie- after several attempts finally can make it just right. I finally can make the entire Thanksgiving dinner by myself!
My cooking tragedies
I tried making sweet potatoe pie and it was very lumpy. I also made one of those dump cakes and the cake portion was dry, it never absorbed any of the butter. Both of these were cooked on the same Thanksgiving dinner. Everything I made that year for Thanksgiving has something wrong with it!

Sour Cream Enchiladas
This is great recipe. I love the sauce. I did stuff them bigger and used more cheese. Next time, I want to add more spices and maybe peppers with the chicken. Will make again though!

Pixley On a Stick
Really good. I used Italian seasoning mix rather than ranch. Coat it in alot of this mixture. I also did not bake as long and then broiled it the last few minutes to make the bacon crisp.

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting
I made this for a chocolate three layer cake. I had made it twice. The first time I mixed it throughly as indicated, but the frosting ended up not being fluffy. The next batch I did not over mix and it was fluffy. I think if you add all the powdered sugar it becomes less whipped. I had to keep in the frig otherwise the icing would slide/melt off the cake!
