About this Cook
I live in Buffalo Grove and Chicago, IL. I raised 3 children who have grown up and left the nest. So I divide my time between my home in the suburbs and a studio apt. in the city for weekends and days off from work. I work as an Office Manager for a Family Medicine medical office.
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything. Bought a weber gas grill and have come to love grilling. Ethnic cooking is challenging and rewarding if all goes well. Desserts-my coworkers have developed a love/hate relationship with my baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have worked a broccoli au gratin recipe to perfection and it is a family staple for all get-togethers. My entire family loves it. It is a holiday must have. My apple pancake for breakfast and my son's requested meal when home from college - lemon chicken.
My cooking triumphs
Being able to organize and cook good food for large groups of family and friends. It keeps us together and connected. Want to work on more intimate small group menus that are challenging.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at chicken enchiladas. UGH!!! I have since been given a wonderful recipe from my husband's co-worker that is a keeper.

Panna Cotta
This was wonderful. As good as the ones I had in London and Paris. Easy to prepare and quite a showpiece dessert when you add a little chocolate and raspberry sauce swirled on a plate. Made it for Mother's Day and it was the hit of the day....

Clone of a Cinnabon
This recipe is sheer perfection. The dough is light and perfect in texture. I use king arthur's cinnamon filling along with a layer of butter on dough. The frosting is yummy. That is my only change. This is the only cinnamon bun recipe I will ever use. It doesn't get any better than this.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
This is a very good recipe. A tad similar to the one found on the quaker oatmeal box. I used all butter, omitted the cloves out of personal preference and soaked the raisin in 1 cup of boiling water. I did not have any problems and they were delicious and chewy. Having made the quaker recipe it is recommended not to overbeat the ingredients because it seems to make them more cake like.
